Eagtac SX30C2 (XHP-35 HI CW): Review & Beamshots

MH20/MH20GT in NW. Great UI with the 2-stage switch, onboard charging, compact, just ticks all the boxes.

Within a coupla mm it’s the same exact size (length, diameter) as my Wuben i332, only the MH20 uses an 18650, whereas the i332 only uses a 16340! Once I started EDCing it, nothing even came close to dethroning it.

Good question on the ’ would buy again ’… Years ago, the answer would’ve been the Eagletac D25A clicky. I went through two (lost and destroyed, respectively). I still have one that I gifted to my late father, but it’s a keepsake now and won’t be used.

Nowadays, my custom TIR FW1A sst20w would be a tragic loss, but with LT the way they are, I might go and try a KR1 first despite the bulk (but awesome d/c clip).

FWAA has also carved out a spot in my EDC pile. (SW45k)

2000k Nichia Skilhunt H03 w/ anduril…

Convoy M2 w/ Black Flat S and FC switch… Single mode 105kcd perfect beam

B158B for an awesome performing budget (and classic) zoomie. Running YinDing 5050 round flat.

That’s it for me, and some are replaceable still yet.

The Eagtac prices seem to compare to Fenix. If its at least as good as Fenix, that would be excellent.

Nice review, I just might get one.

For sure ib the same level as Fenix. And you won’t find higher quality accessories. Holsters, clips, lanyards, diffusers… they do it all at a high level

every month or so, for the last year or so, I have looked up buying the mh20gt (I think it's still available, or maybe it's the mh23 now??) because of your comments about it. It does look like a very good edc that I want to try. It seems to have a head size almost that of a kr1, but with a smaller body, charging, side switch, and... well, it's a xhp35 HI! One of my favorite leds, especially in 2700k hi cri :))

also, that nitecore quality!

MH23 looks good

1 × 18650, 2 × CR123, IMR, 2 × RCR123

Thats flexible.

I was thinking about an MH23 with B35AR swap… but not sure how it’ll look in an smo reflector

so is it true that the MH23 is just the updated MH20?

after seeing LB's comment this morning and reminding me that I wanted mh20, i went on Amazon and it's available. I also got $100 Amazon gift card for Christmas of course and I have no plans for it. Was probably gonna be another Olight to mod, but would rather buy the mh23 and throw a rosy xhp35 HI 2700k in it.

oh, and that would be cool woth the b35a, although i'm not yet entirely convinced on that led over a xhp35 HI. Unless the b35a 4000k is rosy, that could convince me. Lol.

anyway, maybe kaidoman sells a op reflector that would fit it for that mod?

MH23 has bigger head/reflector than the regular MH20 also XHP35 requires different driver. Nitecore flashlights are not easy to mod.

I like the wider beam of the plain ’20 because it’s more general purpose, but admittedly, if I’m outside, the ’20gt would have way more “reach”. But being that most of the time what I need a light for is indoors and close-in, the ’20 remains the undethroned champ so far.

I saw the newer models (’23, ’25, whatever), and wasn’t thrilled. There was something different about the UI or… forgot what it was, but nope, wasn’t thrilled with the “improvement”.

Plenty of similar examples, like the SC31 (great light for The Muggle until it was pumped up), the SP10A/-B (horrible UI in the ’S version, no idea about the latest), and so on. Sometimes you just hit that high note and gotta do a Costanza and STOP, because otherwise you can only go downhill.

Don’t even get me started on the “improved” P30s…
