Hey so Im really new to the flashlight community (already addicted hah) but I have a fun little question that Im sure has been asked before but nonetheless;
If you could only use 1 flashlight the rest of your life, what would it be? Just to make it more interesting, it has to be under $100.
If I could only have one flashlight, I would probably choose an EDC light, since that gets carried and used every day. But I would sure miss my headlamp and soda can lights.
I’m really in love with my Convoy M21B with GT FC40 emitter. The size, and beam are just glorious. Since it’s a little big for pocket carry, I would have to choose my Sofirn IF25A. But if intl-outdoor ever releases a D4-like light with the aux leds that takes a 21700, I would be all over that.
A good headlamp with a neutral or warm tint and high CRI that also doubles as a torch (like, maybe, the Sofirn SP40) might be a good “only” flashlight, but I don’t own one of those, so I’m not sure.
Can’t be done;-) Seriously, most of us would have to choose our phone and that is about the worst flashlight ever but it is a flashlight and if you could only have one not many of us would give up our phones. OK so that might be a bit snarky but reality doesn’t get much better from there. Ignoring the phone it is hard for me to get less than 2. As noted above hands free use is really a requirement.
Perhaps an SP40 with an SST-20 4000k and Andruil 2 might make for a single light. The TS21 is about as near of perfect single light that I have. However, it won’t do the hands free splendor of my EO2II and I wouldn’t want to give that up! Also, if I were still in the country it just doesn’t have enough throw.
Here would be my ideal 3 lights that would come in right around $100.
EO2II
TS21
IF22A
ok.
here it is.
my 1 and only 1 dedicated flashlight.
i have had this kind for many, many years
and it has never failed or broken due to abuse.
it just might survive the zombie apocalypse.
Ha!!! Awesome choice! Funny, as I have one of those stashed in my “get home” bag loaded with e-gizer lithium primaries. Just pulled it out the other day for a function check. Capable little lamp for sure.
Of the lights I currently own, the Skilhunt H04RC. The beam and tint are perfect for me. It’s also very lightweight.
My RRT01 with 219b is very close. I just need to find the right TIR to change the beam from spot to flood and it will be perfect for me. If I could get a beam shape like the Skilhunt it would be perfect. The size, UI, power, and weight is all on point. The only weakness is the cell with in-built charging uses micro-USB, wish it was a C-type charging port. If I could switch that and the optic it will be spot on.
Probably a Fireflies Nov-MU in 4500k. Throw is cool and all, but when it comes down to it, pure flood is the most useful thing for most situations in which I’m going to use a flashlight. The color rendering, tint, efficiency, and magnetic tail are icings on the cake.
