[Soda Can] Manker MK38 alternatives / comparison?

I recently laid my eyes on the new Manker MK38 lights. Seems pretty nice and has a uniquely gorgeous white finish.

However given my lack of experiences with soda cans, and the lack of reviews of this light out there (Very new product. and supply issues i guess), I’m hoping I can get some comparison and alternative suggestions.

I’m shopping for a powerful, likely soda can light, as a house-warming gift for some close relative who recently acquired a new weekend-home in the remote suburbs. They helped me a lot with my life so I’d like to show some gratitude whenever possible. (Well if it turns out to be really enjoyable I might get one for myself lol)

Reasons I find MK38 interesting:

1, 40000 lm and built-in fan-handle. Manufacturer states it can sustain 5000 lm w/o step down. No thermal-config available but the OOF step-down temp is 65C, which is great since there’s a handle anyway why not maximize the step-down temp.

2, Option for on-board charging with glued-up battery section. I know non-replaceable battery is a big no no for us BLF users, but given its for some middle-aged layman, I wouldn’t want them to have any opportunity to mess with bare cells on their own. So on-board charging is a huge plus in this case.

3, 5000k CT. I’d assume the end user couldn’t care less about CRI so no CRI requirements here, but 5000k is a better-looking CT for most anyone than 6500k IMO.

4, Looks nice. I’d assume they wouldn’t care about the look of a tool, but since it’s a gift why not add some cool factor.

5, Claimed IPX8 rating. It rains quite often in that area during certain seasons. Can I rely on Manker’s claimed ratings though? Any experiences?

Possible drawbacks of MK38:

I don’t know. Due to my extremely limited experiences with soda cans I wouldn’t know what lacks are unique to MK38 and what would be shared by all soda cans.

What about the quality of Manker products in general? I’d be purchasing from a local and reputable dealer so support wouldn’t be an issue I guess, but I’d love a gift to not fail just weeks into actual use.

Thank you all!

From what I read:

MK38 seems to be competing directly against Acebeam X50.

Drawbacks of X50 I can find on paper:

1, Acebeam doesn’t specify it’s sustained brightness and step-down temperature, which IMO is more important than peak lumen. Nor does X50 have a fanned handle.

2, X50 is rated IP66 vs MK38 at IPX8.

However from my understanding Acebeam is a more reputable brand than Manker, is that correct? I’m really new to this.

I don’t have the Manker but I compared the Acebeam X50 and Imalent MS08 a bit in my MS08 review here https://davestechreviews.com/2021/12/21/imalent-ms08-flashlight-review/

I’m interested if the fan makes a difference considering the flashlight has no cooling fins.

That’s what I’m wondering as well. I just can’t really find any reviews on this light.
