High CRI Twisties?

Hey. I’m still carrying an L10 from L3 Illumination. I love the simplicity of 3-mode L-M-H. I think mine is only running a Nichia 219A but the neutral tint has been good in multiple environments. This flashlight lives on my key ring and has served me very well over the last few years.

I was looking to get a back-up. SB Flashlights has more in stock, possibly running 219C, but they are 4-mode. So I’m wondering what other options are out there. While I prefer using on an Eneloop Pro for EDC, I’m open to using a 14500.

Skilhunt E3A, LH351D, 4000K iirc.

Edit: quahog corrected me, it’s likely a LH351B.

Yep, reviewed one E3A, bought a few on my own after. Reeeeally nice.

High-CRI, pebbled TIR lens, HA3 ano in slate-gray.

The L10 4-mode is actually pretty great IMO because it adds a very low moonlight mode. I got several with the recent grab bag sale. It’s not 219C, BTW. I don’t believe the emitters were ever upgraded from the original offerings years ago.

I agree the 4 mode is excellent

The old version of the reylight pineapple mini has a 219c IIRC. 3 modes although it’s not sold at his site anymore.

Skilhunt E3A has a LH351 B and I found it quite green. I put some Zircon minus green filter in front of the TIR and it’s much better now.

Another small budget option is the Sofirn C01S with SST-20 4000k. Two modes, starts on low (around 10 lumens and 100 lumens). I bought 4 to get free shipping about a year ago and have them stashed around the house; they get used often probably for less than a minute (e.g. look under the sofa, check inside your mouth, look in the dogs ears, etc.)

In AA/14500 size there’s also the Skilhunt E2A (SST-20 @ 4000k) which is technically a tail switch but you can leave it turned on and twist the head to turn on/change modes. Battery goes in from the head side so the tail doesn’t open. Three modes (L -> M -> H)

> Skilhunt E3A has a LH351 B

zeroair reviewed that LOW CRI version

there IS supposedly also High CRI E3a version

but I have not seen any test to confirm that, and I dont know if its a 351B or 351D

I have the High CRI version E3A and it looks to be the LH351B and not the D.

E3A

From Samsung datasheet. Notice the gold color compare to the LH351D.

LH351D from Convoy

From Samsung datasheet

thanks for the info

has anyone tested the CRI with an Opple or any other instrument?

Jetbeam Jet 1MK is a good candidate, if you are a modder. I replaced the stock XpG2(cold white) with a 219B 4500K on mine and its a great little EDC now. Three output levels, Hi CRI LED and works with AAs and 14500s.

Prometheus Betas are high CRI twisties.

You can see the LH351B here:

Not sure what your picture shows. It’s similar, but not the LH351B I have.

However, Skilhunt states it is the B, so I was wrong. And we agree that it’s green.

The Opple reads 3800K, Ra 96.

thanks, that sounds good

what is the Tint DUV?
(or xy coordinates and I will calculate it)

It’s 0,003, but you know what I think about absolute values from the Opple. It looks as green as all HCRI Samsung LEDs I’ve seen thus far.

thank you
yes, 0.0030 is as green as sunlight, and other LH351d

the E3A only has one mode… but at least it offers high CRI and Neutral White CCT, unlike the similar models from Olight and Thrunite that are Low CRI ad Cool White.

The AAA Twisty I would recommend is the Thrunite Ti3 V2 (has 3 modes), with a 219b LED swap  :
.

Agreed, allthough the Samsung might be an exception. Beat me, the light just doesn’t look right.

probably for the same reason LH351D looks washed out… Low CRI R9…

I much prefer 219b… to LH351 (any version)

Even the 219C looks better. Much better.
