Question about Rofis R Series from website 192led

These lights look to be a must-have. I’m obviously late to the show, only place that says ‘in-stock’ is 192led. Question is: does anyone have experience with this site? Is it trustworthy? I sent questions via the site but no answer yet. Chinese New Year holiday I understand. Where else to buy? Did Rofis jump the shark? Any advise is appreciated. Thank you.

Yes, Rofis no longer exists, AFAIK. Amazon recently had a deal on the MR50 - clearing out old stock, I’m guessing.

It's nice to see you, SpeedB!

A thread about this store here.

Yeah, Rofis bought the farm apparently. Shame because they really did have some nice lights and decent emitter options, very well made. I got one of those MR50s on Amazon when someone posted the sale price…it’s ok, certainly bested by many other lights now but a simple-to-use bright light with a good compact form and traditional look (why I bought it). Their angle head lights were the claim to fame…had the R-whichever 18650 and gifted it, kept the smaller R2 14500 and it’s a favorite.

I wouldn’t count on hearing back from them. I also probably would not spend any money on one of their lights unless you consider it play money because there won’t be any future support or parts and they aren’t particularly easy/possible to mod or repair. The seller “SkyBenTrade” on Amazon used to sell their lights…last I looked it seemed that they might be exiting Amazon after having shifted entirely to Olight, but if they’re still on there you could try messaging them to see if they might still have any Rofis models. It’s possible there are still some on aliexpress somewhere, too.

Darn it. Pete, AFAYK, hmmm, will you look into it for me. Lol, thanks for the response.

Hubba hubba hubba, surely is nice around here. Just like in Racoon City. Thank you.

Hey thanks. Yeah I wasn’t clear which R series. I was jonesing for the twist angle ones R1,R2, R3. I only have a couple of dozen lights but surely it’s time for a twisty head. I do actually have one meandering from the west through lapolicegear.com Let’s see if I can post a pic. Anyway, it’s called the LA Police Gear Twist Angle 750.

Thank you kindly for the all the info. Yessir it’s those R series 1 2 and 3 with the twist head I’m after. And like you it’s the R2 I most want cuz I’m sorta on a 14500 jag! Thanks again.

I have a r2 I can part with if you really want one. Its in cool white unfortunately since it was one of my first lights.

Good luck finding one…actually atobe’s offer might be worth it. The cool white they had was actually not super cold and bluish, on the warmer side of the 6000K bin if I were to guess. I had one and then exchanged it for their “natural white” which is a nice 5000Kish. Many cool white options are like 6500K for max lumens on paper but the color is a bit harsh to most eyes…the Rofis I saw wasn’t that way at all.

That LAPG angle head looks…interesting. Kind of Rof-ish but the body looks cheap…maybe just the lack of knurling and fins and such. SST40 in that smaller size will be fairly floody with probably a wide hot spot…looks like a pretty cold color bin from the photos.

You might take a look at the Nicron models. Their lights are on the cheap budget end but they’re decently made. Prices on them have risen a bit out of step compared to what the quality justifies, but worthy of consideration. They have a little AA/14500 called the N7 that I got for $7 or $8 a few years ago. Now it’s kind of ridiculously priced, but it’s a great light and I use the crap out of it on a near daily basis at the office. Simple two mode with hidden strobe, basic clicky (they may have changed it to three mode based on what I read in questions and reviews awhile back). There are so many reviews on amazon now that it’s hard to weed out the idiots from legit complaints, but apparently they have had a fair number of QC issues/failures. Mine has been flawless, though. Nice Samsung emitter, good temp but a bit of the greenish tint at lower settings…my chief complaint is that the button is way too easy to press but I just lock out via the tailcap as a habit, and I put the longer deep clip from the Rofis on that light, rotating it around to cover the switch when I pocket it for when tailcap twisting is a hassle. Around the holidays that light ridiculously goes up to like $24 or so but if you can get it at a normal price around $12-$14 it’s still worth it, imho. The head is easier to turn than the Rofisses, too…one thumb and holds its position decently, whereas the Rofis needed both hands even after a lot of use. Nicron sells the same light overseas with a different model number, various body colors and different knurling design, and they also have an 18650 version (haven’t seen that one in person myself).

Not too many of these small angle heads out there but damn are they handy lights to own.

atobe, thank you, that’s interesting. But like you probably, I would prefer to buy my darkfixers all ‘virginy’ lol. Definitely interesting though……

no

Correlux, wow, thanks for everything again! You seem to be a deft hand at the light game! Awesome. I looked at the Nicrons, and as you said, the cheap price kinda scared me away. I may go for one now though. Haven’t got the LAPG yet - I’ll report back. The one YouTube review is so glowing you come away blind. Btw, JUST NOW received my SofirnSP40 headlamp. And you won’t believe it! The friggin tailcap won’t screw into the 18350 tube!! Blast it man, that’s why I bought the darn thing. I can’t believe it, thought maybe I was holding my mouth wrong or something lolll! It seems the thread pitch is different, get about 3/4 of a turn and it just dead locks up. Guess that’s another thread. Googled it - didn’t see anything. How could this happen to meeeeeee!! Lol. I’d post pics but haven’t quite figured the hosting thing yet.

Thank you

Just received the LAPG Twist Angle 750. Wow. Talk about quality for a bargain. Of course the highlight is the twist head which is firm but buttery smooth to operate. You can do it with one hand. There is no slop at the pivot point, none. Another fidget gadget to add to the collection! I put an Efest 20 amp in there and it has to be well over 750 lumens. SST40 must be around 5-6K, good throw defined center large outer orb of light then some spill. Good all-around beam for a not-a-beam-scrutinizer guy - yet. They say that comes later. To me the coating has that near perfect amount of semi-gloss on the deep black hue. It’s looks to be stuck on real well - so call it durable. I could go on blabbing…just one more thing. It even has that fetching green color on a turbo-glow gasket behind the lens for a finishing bit of flair. Yep, it’s a good light.

Test. Is there a picture?

I see a picture.

Thank you racoon city. I see it now too. Just learned how to do this thanks to the link sent from Correllux. I’ll try not to bombard the forum with gratuitous pics, you know, like a kid with a new toy!

Here’s another option. I have a couple on ‘meander’ (USPS lately, understandably). No lie - the day I received the LAPG, the hvac tech came by the house to look at the furnace. First thing he does is whips out a small dark killer to check the air intake filter. I say “lemme see that light please”. It’s a Tensor Corporal! I had looked these over prior as well. A quick inspection, felt good in the hand, smooth pivot no wobble, attractive knurling, boom I’m in.
