Keychain Flashlight Comparison

9 Keychain Flashlights Compared!

Here are the lights in the video!
RovyVon E3
RovyVon a8xU
Lumintop FROG
Lumintop GT Nano
Nitecore Tini 2
Nitecore TIP SE
Nitecore T4K
Fenix E03R
Olight World i1r2 Pro

A few beamshot comparisons:

For a keychain light, the Aurora A8 (or A5 with GITD body) really can’t be beat. The form factor is so small and yet output is excellent. Plus the LIPO batteries have very minimal discharge and last a very, very long time when not in use (e.g. my A8 after 6 months from a full charge still had plenty of power available—ran it for a few minutes and didn’t get low power indication). Note that RovyVon has finally given the A5 & A8 USB-C charging. The other winner in my book is the Olight i1r2 Pro. While the tint is on the cool side and it’s just 2 modes, it’s so very small and easy to keep on a keychain. USB-C charging.

The new RovyVon E3 is quite a curiosity with dual power source.

The true winner is missing: The TrustFire MINIX.

The true winner is missing: The Skywolfeye B16.
(No, I’m not kidding, for me it’s the winner…has many shortcomings but nevertheless is a fine host, for me better than the ones mentioned above)

You need them as lightweight as possible . Just a couple modes works fine . Doesn’t need to be hi cri since you’re usually only using them for just seconds.

accidental activation and ease of finding the button are important …

Using a rovyvon clone and enjoy the fact it’s super lightweight . Finding the button is a little frustrating at times along with trying to remember the user interface
I like the MiniX much more than I expected I would too.

The only reason I still have the Olight on my keychain is the successful LED swap. The TX really has tiny pads. I’m so proud it works

“Boring” and “outdated” by many standards, but my DQG Fairy and Sofirn SC01 are still best keychain lights I’ve found so far…

I must be the only one who isn’t a fan of these square boxy lights on my keyring. Too big and bulky for me. I’ll stick with a regular AAA light I think. My fav is still a Maglite Solitaire LED. Works in all conditions and has a better UI than any mentioned here

You forgot the lighter and smallest

Last long 1 year with cr2032 batt. on my keychain (I hold 2 of them with high cri Led 2300k and 3400k). For short use and distance is the best emergency keychain light.

Still using my Lumintop EDC01. I already liked it before thanks to mode memory, but ever since I found it will eagerly accept a Thrunite Ti3’s pocket clip, it’s an absolute winner.

I agree. My keychain light is merely a backup, since I always have at least 2 other lights on me, so a Photon Freedom Micro perfectly meets my keychain needs.

UrbanSurvivor, thank you for the detailed and insigbtful video.

Wow it have E-switch and dimming mode, didn’t know that.
Does it go in sublumen and there is pwm evident?

Mine are the cheapest ones (0,5$ pcs) without electronic, the internal resistance of the itself limit Current to the Led

I got some from Dealextreme years ago with Japanese cells that are still bright. Now are replaced with junk cells

For the rest I use Nitecore Tube + RWN05-32K Led

is there a list sorted by carry weight?

AAA Ti3 Ti 27 grams
.

Yes, the Freedom Micro goes ultra low, but any mode below its highest brightness has visible PWM that becomes more obvious (i.e., slows down) the lower you dim the brightness.

Is that with or without a cell??

Skilhunt E3A is 16g with a lithium primary AAA

yes, carry weight with battery is 27 grams

the AAA Eneloop inside weighs 10 grams, so the empty weight is 17 grams.

I really like my Rovyvon Aurora A23.

It's a bit bigger than many keychain flashlights, but it's the right size for me.

another one, similar to trustfire minix, also missing, is cyansky M1R

tiny rectangular things,

the cyansky has a red and a UV,

the trustfire can have either a red or a UV but not both, with the normal white light
