NEW RELEASE - WUBEN A1 - THE LONGEST THROW FLASHLIGHT!

Exciting news - the Wuben A1, 2000m flashlight has just been released!

It can give a brightness of 20,000 lumens, has a removable remote control with a range of 10m, can be USB charged and used as a power bank!

It has 8✖️21700 batteries which take 5 hours to charge then giving it a maximum continuous run time of 105 hours!

On top of all this, it will remain functional after being submerged in 2m water for 1 hour!

Is the A1 worth the price?

Customers are saying "Wow, this is impressive, but it seems too expensive".

There is no doubt the price is well above the average compared to other flashlights,

but Wuben has full confidence that the A1's brightness, throw distance, high build quality and other features not only match its price but make it good value!

Wuben has very much pushed its limits and is delivering the A1 to the highest standard.

What you will love about the A1?

  • The range: 2000m!
  • The output: 20,000 lumens for 2 minutes!
  • Candela: 1,000,000 cd!
  • Multi-modes: 6 brightness settings including moon and turbo along with SOS and strobe

· Power bank: This features a USB-A interface 5V/1A, 5V/2A, 5V3A to serve as a power bank for mobile phones and other devices

Batteries used in the A1

The lithium-ion batteries used in A1 are the 21700 Wuben ABD4800.

They have a capacity of 4800 mAh each and a combined capacity of 33600 mAh! They also have three key safety features:

A PCB (Printed Circuit Board) protects overcharge and over-discharge, short/over current and high temperatures.

A PTC (Positive Temperature Switch) is a small round disc at the top of the battery, inside the casing and protects against overheating.

They have low resistance, but if there is a surge in current, the battery will heat up and the PTC will increase its resistance to prevent burning.

A CID (Current Interrupt Device): This will disable the cell permanently if the pressure is too high in the cell which can happen from overcharging.

If the battery becomes overcharged, its pressure increases, but the CID will interrupt the connection with the positive terminal by venting gas through the hole in the top of the battery.

The LEDs used in the A1

These are 4 Luminus SBT-90 White Big Chip LEDs and offer maximum light output and efficacy which allows them to replace arrays of lower powered LEDs.

SBT-90 LEDs are 'Chip Scale Package' (CSP) chips made with the 'photonic lattice' technology of Luminus. This enables large-area LED chips with uniform brightness over the entire LED chip surface.

The optical power and brightness produced by these large monolithic chips enable the replacement of arc and halogen lamps where arrays of traditional high-powered LEDs cannot.

The SBT-90 series has the lowest thermal resistance of any LED on the market.

This means that the LEDs can be driven at higher current densities whilst maintaining a low junction temperature and resulting in increased brightness solutions and longer lifetimes.

The reduction of thermal resistance results in fewer failure points from the heat along with increased reliability.

How does the A1's reflector help it achieve so much throw?

By itself, an LED or light bulb emits light in all directions - this is useful in some cases (for example, if you want to create ambient lighting in a small area),

but to make a well defined light beam in a single direction, the light source needs to be 'collimated'.

Collimating is the scientific term that means making light beams parallel.

In the Wuben A1, the light from the powerful SBT-90 LEDs are reflected around the surface of the reflector and collimated in such a way that the rays of light running parallel to each other in the middle of the reflector.

These are three main factors that influence the A1 reflector’s ability to achieve 2000m throw:

Reflector shape: Long-throw flashlights have the same general shape. This is because they use the 'parabolic' effect. The parabolic effect also enhances recording equipment, telescopes and satellites.

The A1 uses an elongated, parabola-shaped reflector, which collimates the LED light in an effective way. This creates a focused beam spot which is an important feature of a long-range flashlight.

Reflector diameter: Large throw distance flashlights need large size, depth and diameter reflectors like the one of the A1.

Reflector texture: The A1 has achieved its large throw distances by using a smooth, highly polished reflector.

Advantages of using the A1

Having a throw of 2km, the A1 has a serious 'cool factor' but can it really be useful? Well, there are some specific situations where the A1 is a necessity.

Search and rescue:

The A1 will be very helpful for search and rescue situations and allows you to light up long distances and cover ground more effectively.

At the same time, the beam may serve as a beacon to the person you’re searching for.

Law enforcement:

The A1's ability to inspect a situation while keeping your distance cannot be overstated.

The hot spot of the A1 is what you need to quickly identify potential threats, investigate unfamiliar sounds, or command a suspect’s attention.

Emergency signaling:

If you’re ever in a position where you need to use your A1 as an emergency beacon, you’ll appreciate the longer throw distance which will increase your likelihood of being found.

In an emergency such as being rescued from a flooded building or having an injury deep in a forest, the A1 makes an incredibly effective signaling tool, especially with its SOS mode.

Land management:

The A1 will let you search and inspect over greater distances, so you don’t have to get up close to investigate intruders, missing livestock, and other issues that arise in the dark.

Ranchers, farmers, and those who live out in the country are likely to understand the importance of having a long throw flashlight that covers larger distances.

Increased battery life:

The 8 21700 A1 batteries have a capacity of 33600 mAh! This large battery source also increases runtimes so you have to replace and charge batteries less often.

Mobility:

The A1 delivers more than most vehicle-mounted spotlights can put this power in the palm of your hand and go where no vehicle can go.

It is an invaluable tool for security, search and rescue and law enforcement.

How does the A1 prevent overheating?

Materials: The A1 is mainly made from aluminum alloy which is a superior heat conductor and allows the heat to freely escape more than other metals with the same hardness.

Aluminum also has low weight density which reduces the overall weight of the flashlight making it easier to hold and carry over a long distance.

Fins: The A1 has ridges on the head of the light which increases the surface area of the aluminum alloy.

As this material is very good at dissipating heat, increasing its surface area of it will help dissipate even more heat. Extended ridges on the A1 transfer heat away from the circuitry making it more reliable.

Step-down setting: The A1 stays on turbo mode for 2 minutes at 20,000 lumens, then reduces to 6,000 lumens for 2 hours. The reason for this is to prevent overheating which could potentially start a fire.

Head size: The A1's large diameter head not only helps focus the beam but acts as a heat sink to prevent over-heating!

Candela: 100,000 cd!

For me to unbudget

A 0 is missing (a million) for 2 km

Regards Xandre

Looks like a really good contender, it will likely sustain its output better (beyond the first 10 minutes) than any other multi SBT90 light, like the Lumintop GT94x, or the Haikelite HK90.

If it's true 20,000 for 2 minutes, and then 6,000 for 2 hours.. 6,000 lumens for 2 hours is pretty good!

ONE!!! THOUSAND!!! DOLLARS!!! :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

I think I made a wrong turn somewhere and ended up at the wrong forum.

Oh.. wow.. didn't know the price

Sorry Wuben, but that price is a complete madness. I can’t see how you can justify this price.

I will buy one when I win the lottery. It will be worth it because it will be a one of a kind. No one else will have one at $988.00.

unlimitedbudgetlightforum.com ?

what does surprise you so much, guys? they produced like dozen of them, so price is reasonably incredibly high. like bugatti, or whatever is hand made nowadays

i have no other explanation.

BTW, Wuben, i join to the question from above.

how did you managed to get 2km throw by just 100 000kd?

is that true that flashlight can sustain 20 000lums for 2 minutes? as a person who owned some such really large lights as MT90 Plus, BLF GT and BLF GT70, K30 i have serious doubts in these sweet stated specs. another reason is that, actually, i`ve also owned Wuben T102 prometheus and. here is it`s chart for turbo.

I bet that Wuben did serious progress since 2018 (year i did this chart) and you can proudly prove such serious numbers. That would take just 10-15 minutes to make test and build a charts upon it

upd.
hope you dont mid explaining this promo pic which promises spot and flood in one model.

I have ordered 1000

I don’t expect them to hire a rescue helicopter just for a photoshoot on the alps but I’m sure there are more realistic ways to promote a flashlight.

As for the flashlight itself, it is kinda pointless to use such expensive emitters just for the sake of throw figures and making it so much more expensive.

$1000…yikes! Just get a GT94 and call it good for 1/3 the price of that (if you can find one).

LOL crazy money! You can keep it!

Looks nice though, I’ll give you that! Maybe you can re-sell it to SureFire.

Noctigon K1 W1 gets 650,000 cd, so I would guess a zero was left off by Wuben on their candela number.

When Wuben have realized this light doesn’t sell and they come to their senses and start selling at at $150 a few months from now, then I will buy it

Oh yes! You are an attentive guy. We have corrected the data. Thank you so much!

Yes, it missed a "0" and we have corrected it now.

Sorry for the mistake, the cd should be 1,000,000, we have corrected the data already.

Thank you so much for your support!

The quality does look high and the size fairly small for what it contains. I think the price might be a little speculative based on inflation, but the US dollar is still strong and $799 would be the more appropriate price. At $800 it could be a contender with the GT94x. I hope we see a coupon soon.

I bought it and will compare it to the GT94X but its dimensions are much more compact and also lighter and easier to handle.
