budget as it gets. lantern from white film can and $2 tulip zoomie

I have a bunch of those cheap almost disposeable zoomies around.
You know the ones.
Hyped up by schiesters everywhere.
Still worth $2 no matter what is claimed or printed on them.
I noticed a translucent film can is a very tight interference fit.
Warm it and the lights head with a hair dryer to make it easier.
The result is pretty good dispersion.
Hang it by the lanyard from the ceiling and its a decent room light.
Extra credit if yours can take a 21700 cell for great runtime.

Will it still do 14,000 lumens ?

Problem is that a lot of improvised “diffusers” eat so much light that it’s not funny.

I had someone claim a pill-bottle was such a great diffuser because it not only diffused but also colored the light. Ummm, light output was like a third or less vs ceiling-bounce.

Like, they’re okay in a pinch, but…

This is about the same appearance as the diffuser on a led bulb.
No doubt better materials exist.
But for something made from essentially crap it does well.
The most expensive parts of this if you had to buy them are the nichia 219c and the 21700 cell which is a salvage cell.
And i have thousands of the leds.
Swapping the led to get rid of the godawful tint and color rendering was worth the time.
