Received my MAO a few days agot.Looks and feels great!
But doesn’t work properly. A a problem w/ the tail section: switch or inner tube to the switch.

I e-mailed Wurkkos but I bought it through AliExpress.

Waiting for reply.

What does it do (or not do)? What cell are you using?

Do these units have the latest updated firmware version (i.e. aux LVP, aux off when main LED’s on, lower moonlight output)? And, how long does the promotion run?

yes the red color is a updated firmware

It won’t factory reset. Comes on mainly just aux and won’t turn on w’ 1 click.

When I put the MAO head on my other TS10’s I can use it normally. The MAO
switch definetly has a different feel and sound.

Tried to manipulate the inner sleeve… It sits at same height as my other TS19’s.

Battery all from Wurkkos at 3.7V

Thanks for asking

Good..

try this:
remove battery, tighten head, loosen, tighten, loosen, then tight again.. a few times.. my thought is to seat and get good contact of the inner and outer tubes, into the head

fwiw, the switch itself is a very simple affair.. the issue is probably not the switch. I expect it is just poor contact from the inner tube end, to the pill.

if that tight twisting fails,
It might be poor contact at the tailcap instead.
one step at a time.. the tailcap is glued shut because there is no retaining ring. If tailcap is removed, switch falls out.

btw, at 3.7v a battery is almost half empty. Youre not hurting anything by testing the light at that voltage, but I suggest you charge the batteries before any prolonged use.

Here is a photo of the tail, disassembled:
.

feel free to private message me if you like. I will be happy to help you figure out how to remove the tailcap, if it comes to that.

first, let us know if the twisting exercise solves the problem.

My brass one also arrived today (4000k with orange aux), very very nice! Some newly designed packaging with it too. Well done Wurkkos!

Jon,

Thanks for the advice. I have a blister on my middle finger now. LOL.

No change.

I’m not going to undo the tailcap. I’ll see if Wurkkos or Ali have a fix.

Thanks

The brass looks awesome! And the 14500 battery is only $2 more? Must resist, must resist…

I’d rather use my flashlight around the house than turn on the lights.

I do too.

One of the TS10’s came with a 14500 with built-in usb charger !
Same length as their unprotected/regular batteries.

I thought that might have been my problem with my MAO TS10, but no.

Wurkkos, Do you know the brass composition used in this light? The brass stock you ordered for the factory.

Curious about thermal heat dissipation

thermal info of various metals:
https://budgetlightforum.com/node/69706

Brass has about 2/3 less thermal conductivity than Copper,
Brass has about 1/3 less thermal conductivity than Aluminium.

otoh, Brass has about 16 Times better thermal conductivity than Titanium. Grad

imo, buy the metal you like, dont worry about thermal conductivity.. just dont use your light in ways that generate high heat.. Medium modes are our friends.. LOL

I recommend a ceiling of 120/150 = about 350 lumens, and turn Turbo Off, regardless what metal the TS10 is made of.

I’m a little curious as well, just from a general curiosity standpoint. Free-machining brass has more lead in it and these days you don’t see it very often in consumer-marketed products. Photos look like it’s just a tad roughly machined which might indicate hard brass but it could just be the operators in a rush (faster feed rates or speed, not swapping to sharp fresh tools, etc). I don’t know if RoHS compliance would apply here since it isn’t “electronics”, per se. Heat dissipation…..brass of any type is never great, might be more of an issue on this particular light if you like to use it in turbo/top of ramp, but ya work with what ya got.

Thanks for the details…helps others to know sometimes. Sounds odd. Dumb question maybe since the head works on the other bodies, but threads are clean and clear, right? If you unscrew the head on your others a turn or so and press the switch, is that the same behavior you’re seeing on the MAO? And I suppose you know this already but to factory reset you need to be in advanced mode (batt check is an easy indicator…one time and stops, you’re in simple…continues the voltage readout sequence, you’re in advanced…..or if you can’t change aux levels with 7 clicks, you’re in simple). With wonky electrical connection at the head sometimes it resets itself to simple mode.

I’ve just unpacked my new TS10 brass. Wow, I was really surprised by the packaging! New box with magnetic latch and the flashlight itself is vaccum-sealed! Just amazing.
