Emergency chrome Update-now

Google Issues Emergency Security Warning For 3.2 Billion Chrome Users—Attacks Underway

“”Google has issued an emergency security update for all Chrome users as it confirms that attackers are already exploiting a high severity zero-day vulnerability.

The emergency update to version 99.0.4844.84 of Chrome is highly unusual in that it addresses just a single security vulnerability. A fact that only goes to emphasize how serious this one is.

In a Chrome stable channel update announcement, published March 25, Google confirms it “is aware that an exploit for CVE-2022-1096 exists in the wild.”

All Chrome users are therefore advised to ensure their browsers are updated as a matter of urgency.“”

Thanks!

I updated my Chrome browsers.

Update done, thanks

I want to know what the bug is, i get that they will tell us after the update is completed but i want to know now :innocent:

Make sure you have 99.0.4844.84, I hit the Red Update button on the top right of the screen, Chrome relaunched, yet it was still not the latest version until I went in the About Google Chrome under Help menu, only then started showing the process update for the 99.0.4844.84

Its the Russian hackers protesting Biden’s sanctions.

Never used chrome. Lucky me

Stable Channel Update for Desktop

Friday, March 25, 2022

The Stable channel has been updated to 99.0.4844.84 for Windows, Mac and Linux which will roll out over the coming days/weeks.

Evidently, Windows, Mac and Linux are all vulnerable. I could not, however, find any mention of Chrome for Android phones.

Is it also vulnerable?

Updated, thanks!

I went to Play Store and clicked on my user icon > manage apps and devices. It will check for updates.

Thanks, Pennzy. I'll do that.

I take it, so far, that even though you checked, the PlayStore did not have an update.

As far as I know, it is possible that Android does not require an update.

Can’t say because mine needed an update anyway. I’m having trouble freeing up space for updates on my Note 4. Seems like system apps takes up most of the internal storage on my phone.

I use Brave on Mac, Android, and Linux. Thanks for the heads up. Seems like .84 just happened. (IIRC, I read on another site how critical it was to do that late last week.) Just updated it now on the Mint box I’m typing this on. Pretty sure it was just yesterday that this box updated to .84. Will double check my phone and Mac.

Got it.

I'm probably in the same boat. I'll find out later today!

No android update on my end

I was unaware of that path on Android. Both my & my wife's Android phones updated everything Google when I went there. Thanks for the tip.

If the update is so important, I think Google should force us to update our Chrome browsers immediately instead of just having the option to do it manually.

I mean, online safety is quite important to me.

I set everything to automatic update but end up having to do many of them myself and wondering why my system has been at risk for days or even a week or more.

For me Windows, Avast free (program), (the virus list does automatically update), Chrome, should all update on their own or at least have a pop-up to tell me to update.

Brave browser (chromium browser) was updated to 99.0.4844.88 march 26th

Some reported in our company that Chrome had uptated itself. I am using Edge (Chromium) and had to do it manually.

Yesterday my private Chrome installations were not up to date.

Yeah… I’ve been using Firefox since 2004. On Windows I Sandboxie almost everything. I paid for a lifetime license and have absolutely no regrets that it went opensource (one of the better outcomes).
