Gentlefolks, I have been using a Lumintop SD mini for sometime now though with a handicap - I have to unscrew the tail-cap to prevent it’s battery from draining off. I have no ideas why it does this. At times when I forget to unscrew the tail-cap, I’ll have an unusable flashlight until it’s recharged.
I’m looking at a larger battery capacity flashlight quite like the Lumintop SD mini in size and capabilities but not its fault.
I would appreciate it if you kind and knowledgeable folks would suggest/recommend me a replacement flashlight.
I have the Convoy M21F and the Astrolux EA01 in mind, though they are a little longer and bigger in size than the SD mini but that’s to be expected with a 21700 battery and I accept this but not longer than M21F (144/40mm). I also notice that there is another brand - MATEMINCO, that is exactly like the Astrolux EA01 in looks, features and size. Is this a related brand of Astrolux ?
The SD mini has a decent focused throw as well as spread/flood. I don’t mind a throw distance of 250m to 500m. Modes are low, medium, high and turbo and strobe, beacon and SOS. A side switch is preferred and so is a USB charging port, a must. Reliability is important. I would even consider a 18650 battery flashlight if the attributes are similar to the SD mini’s and size 110/32mm.
As for the light colour, I’d like a natural, neutral or cold white.
Gentlefolks, thank you for your time and have a nice day.
Hi
Mateminco/Astrolux is same, juste the name change.
Astrolux is only rebranded for Banggood sale.
Not in my ability but some light have “parasitic drain” with various level of drain.
Probably our light have high parasitic drain but in any case all light drains cell if you store them screw ready to use.
Deep discharge of our cell have potentially affect their capacity too
If you keep the light for 1 day and have a full deplet cell it’s an issu off course
If you stock two week and get deplete cell it’s normal
So it’s not an issu all our light must stock unscrew or without cell inside.
For replacement light I don’t know, your light was good With USB port i’ve no idea
Ok I was not understand that .
It’s an issu If you are, like me, not a modder nothing to do :(.
I notice you have also potentialy damaged our cell with multiple deep discharge too., if you have an other to try and check after 24H is voltage.
I don’t know where you bought your light and what is Lumintop warranty for this product.
You can contact the sellers and explains an excessive parasitic drains on our light.
After that in fact it’s an “minor” issu
Light was never stock with cell inside and screw it’s a habit to take
I have the Astrolux EA01 with the 26800 tube. Parasitic drain is very small, nearly fully charged after 3 months. That said I do tend to store my electronic switch lights with the tail cap a quarter turn off. With the 21700/26650 tube it’s a 116/41mm size. A review of your light had the parasitic drain on stand by at 44 uA, that’s about 8 years to drain a battery. Your light has an issue. Gentlefolks, thank you for our suggestions and input on parasitic drain in flashlights.
Last night I tried a friend’s 21700 light, there was no brand or model numbers but it was much bigger, about 20% bigger and heavier than the Lumintop. I found it uncomfortable carrying it about in my jeans pocket due to its weight and size and I don’t want to be having a pouch attached to my belt either; my friend was carrying one for it. So there goes the 21700 battery flashlight thoughts out of the window!
My friend had a Sofirn SC31 Pro (18650 battery) on him as well and let me try it. I found it quite good, a little longer than the Lumintop but a slightly smaller diameter. Output was much better than the Lumintop as well. Primary thoughts for a 21700 light was battery power capacity available on hand for travelling on overnight trains, buses and night hiking, without the bulkiness.
Well gentlefolks, I placed an order for the Sofirn SC31 Pro and need to pack an extra 18650 in my luggage for additional juice, on my travels.
Excellent choice, KKG. And with the SC31PRO you have the flexibility to make it even more compact with an 18350 battery tube (and cell), although at the cost of run time and maybe a few lumens on the top end.
