I'm on the hunt for an EDC flashlight again -- I managed to lose my unicorn. I don't expect it is gone for good, but I haven't been able to find it in 2 months.
Since I'm not supposed to buy Russian stuff, I can't buy another one, so I was looking at the realy nice suggestions folks made in my first request:
But I want to make sure I am getting the brightest version I can; also what is the difference between modes and groups? If there is somewhere I can read up on it, can you please give me a hint on where to look?
If not, can I get a green one that is that bright (I like green)?
Finally, has anything come out in the last year that I might should consider?
Thank you!
P.S. I didn't have to go flashlight shopping after getting my Unicorn; I had three flashlights fall into my lap. But none is as good as the Unicorn was.
The Unicorn is hard to beat with its performance and functionality. If you never used its extended features (ramping, beacon, battcheck, aux LED, momentary turbo) then there are some alternatives. Otherwise maybe the Emisar D4v2 with a flashing kit and a little programming experience for more flexibility.
Oh, really? :person_facepalming: Is it not hard to beat performance of unicorn linear driver at all. Or maybe Anduril have no ramping, becon , aux led, turbo or battcheck ? Probably Zebralight and Anduril was copied from russian unicorn? :smiling_imp:
It’s not about single features, it’s about the overall light. Please show me a 18650 Anduril light of the same size, with a linear driver, magnet and inexpensive.
YLP doesn’t ship outside Russia anymore. Payment might also be difficult depending on where you are.
Size of few ± millimeters for handheld light is not important at all. It is expensive for flashlight with linear driver… and I hate magnet in flashlight.
P.S. maybe you can get it through Nordstream pipe, but you have to pay for it in rubles only
