Duty 2AA?

What are some reasonable options for a duty-type 2AA light? Looking for high reliability, high and low modes, minimal extra modes. Willing to pay for quality but I don’t want something that will be too expensive to lose. High CRI is also a plus but I don’t mind modding or even just a good tint. Oh, and a single tail switch is highly preferred. I’d probably take a twisty as second.

I have no personal experience with it but the Protac 2AA from Streamlight seems to be the type of light you’re looking for. But maybe you already knew about that one.

Do they still make that Zanflare one? F2 or something like that. Got a few in the drawer. Built very nice, takes a hell of a beating

— when I want to give flashlights to family members, I put Energizer Lithium AAs in them and encourage them never to risk using alkaleaks.

Yeah, Zanflare made a good one but the Zanflare link now goes to a home furnishing store with a few electronic chargers etc.

That one is tempting, but I can’t get on board with the incompatibility with L91 lithium primaries.

A search for “2AA” turns up a lot of discussions along this line.

Just one example: Best 2AA light out there

yes, I would imagine. It is not unlikely that I’ve participated in many!

Personally, I would go for either the Nitecore MT2A (I have one) or the Eagletac D25A2 (have other ET’s but not that model). If you check Illumination Gear, they might have options for the ET with higher CRI.

Downside… Longer than an 18650 or 2xCR123 counterpart, less bright, and the heads/reflectors are often the same size as the 18650 or 2xCR123 competitors.
