Where have the Fujitsu rechargeable AAs gone?

I switched from Eneloops Pro to Fujitsu blacks after Panasonic bought Sanyo and sold its Japanese factory to Fujitsu. I just looked for the 4-pack 2550mAh AAs today, and they seem to be out of stock everywhere. I know Fujitsu has been trying to become a software company and selling off its hardware businesses, most recently the PFU scanner/keyboard/peripherals division, so it could be they sold their battery operations as well. Does anyone know more?

Never seen Fujitsu rechargeable batteries.

Not sure about in the UK, but here in the US, I am still seeing them on ebay. Newegg and Amazon have them as well - rather expensive though.

I dont know if ikea has a store near you but I have been using the Ladda batteries they sell for several years. I have tested them and from the discharge graph they produce matches the eneloop exactly and they do say made in japan. If you do a little research into these batteries most believe that they are rebranded eneloops and from what I have seen with proformance and their ability to last for years, I would agree with everone else.

Those Ikea batteries are indeed made by FDK (Fujitsu) in Japan. They also make the 2450 mah Duracell NiMH. They are one of the few places besides the Chinese Panasonic factory that makes LSD (ready to use) NiMH batteries. I have some of the white ones (pre 2021) and grey ones (the newer ones) and they’re very good batteries. The price has gone up about $2 for the AA and AAA though, and the AAA are only 750 mah now (from 900) but the AA are still 2540 mah. Way cheaper than the Eneloop Pros though.

What is your concern with buying Eneloops? Are only made-in-China Eneloops sold where you live?

Regardless of the ownership changes, if you can find made in Japan Eneloops, to the best of my knowledge it is the same product as the Fujitsu NiMH cells with the same capacity, just with a different wrapper on it.

If you can only get made-in-China Eneloops, they’re still better than nothing. Or look for other made-in-Japan NiMH batteries.

I mostly order online and don’t have a way to check if the Eneloop Pros are made in China or Japan before receiving them. And yes, generally speaking I prefer to avoid Chinese made products whenever possible, even if that is extremely difficult.

Amazon has them; I couldn’t get the link to copy; just type Fujitsu batteries. They’re sold by Horizon batteries.

AAAs, yes. but not the AA, or at least not any that will ship to the UK.

I guess I will have to make a trip to IKEA.

Just get IKEA Laddas!

I have not tried Eneloop’s. However, I’ve been using https://mahaenergy.com/ NiMH batteries for years with good results. They’re made in Taiwan. The only alkaline AA or AAA batteries I still have are in my smoke detector and for backup purposes for some emergency flashlights. I don’t use my flashlights heavily, so it’s possible that NiMH’s don’t last as long per session as alkaline’s. I have a caller ID device that eats batteries for lunch. It takes 3x AAA batteries and I have to recharge those about every month. AAA’s don’t have much energy in the first place. I made the switch to rechargeable after I had several devices ruined by corroded Duracell’s. I hardly ever buy batteries from Amazon or EBay. Too many fakes.

Eneloop is the way to go.

Also ikealoops.

Only the ones made in japan.

It's definitely interesting.

I've been following Eneloop for about 10 years now, and I also noticed the prices of them going up, and with less availability, even in Japan.

I usually watch Amazon.co.jp for current prices and if they have any new models. But all prices have gone up a lot.

Unfortunately, no new models have been relaesed since 2015 or so (except for 1 industrial type), and no new limited editions since 2019.

So it may be a problem across the board.

Nkon used to have them, there were 3~4€ less than Eneloops so pretty advantageous, they stopped selling them around 2 years ago.

Ikea Laddas used to be only 2450mAh (Eneloop/Fujitsu pros) which are terrible, very short cycle life, DCIR of all of mines are in the Ωs, I’ll never buy them again. Now they also have 1900mAh ones but they are 1000 cycle instead of 2000, maybe they are Fujitsu blue instead of the white, not as good as the later.

I don’t know anything about this seller but here they are at Walmart.

When ordering batteries online;especially from Amazon; ask for a non copy code in the questions section. I did this with the fugitsu’s and the seller (Horizon) sent it back. If you don’t get an answer be careful or you may get fakes.

FYI, these are the standard capacity ones.

The OP was asking about the high capacity (2550 mAh) black ones.

Oops, I should have reread the OP.

I have about 150 LSD NiMH AA's and maybe 100 AAA's and don't own one Eneloop...almost 12 years here and having to watch Fishinfool and ChibiM showing off colored, chocolate, disney loops ...Orange green baby blues :( It's really quite sad .

No Ikeas and no Eneloops

otoh.. I do have both the black and white fujitsu
