Cheaper DIY hack for olight o'pen 2 refill

I didn’t want to wait for the 2 recommended refills to arrive, so I went to the closest office store and managed to find a “parker” refill with roughly the same size shaft (its a little longer, but stretching the spring is an easy fix)

I basically just lined up the pen tips at the bottom and then marked the top, with the caps off.

I used a cheap hacksaw, very slowly. Then gently reamed out the inside so the olight cap fit in the Parker refill, becsuse it was a little rough after using the saw to cut some length off. (If there is a better way to cut, let me know)

Surprisingly, even after taking over 1/4” to 1/2” off, I hardly reached the ink/ink sealant. (Pretty shady on their part but whatever)

The refill is $8.

Buying the azprintsmith adapter is $10, plus about $10 for the Fisher universal refill (fisher suf4) or you can find the schmidt 8126 mini for at least $10.

If you can manage to find something local that is longer but has the full metal shaft, you can easily mod it in 5 minutes and will be cheaper than the azprintsmith adapter.

Here is a video I made. I will post the full process next time.

A pipe cutter might work better than a hacksaw.

I have a few of those. Is the ink refill steel though? It wasn’t soft like aluminum.
