[BLF Group Buy Interest List] Sofirn SP33S High CRI Edition: the GT-FC60 R9080 saga! (Brightness numbers are in!))

Hello again BLF.

This time, I have something a bit more… interesting to discuss about you.

Remember the thread about the nice new Getian LEDs I found and got some samples of?

Well, some of you probably already saw that coming from a mile away because of another thread, but here it goes:

I decided to discuss an interesting business proposition with Sofirn as a first step, and that was to use the glorious Getian GT-FC60 High CRI with good tint binning in place of the current XHP70.2 in the Sofirn SP33S!

with this large nice LED waffle

All of this would make the Sofirn SP33S BLF Special Edition: High CRI!

This would be the exact same light, except for the change to a High CRI Getian FC-60, which entails:

- Higher throw per lumen

- Much better tint and practically non-existent tint shift vs the current XHP70.2 model

- Much better color rendition

  • Waffle style LED

LED specs that were asked for the final production version of this special light:

  • 4000-4500k CCT
  • Ra9080, which means 90CRI minimum, 80 R9 minimum, and all around excellent color rendition
  • Good tint binning with a specified duv range of –0.005 to 0.000 : this one is especially important, and one thing that I will make sure gets into the production batch no matter what.

As noted in the title above, this is mainly an interest list to signal your interest to Sofirn that it would be a good call to make such a version of the SP33S, so please write your interest below if such a light intrigues you! This is especially important since it allows Sofirn to gauge demand.

Note: I will do everything in my power to get the best GT-FC60 possible so that we may get a beast of light in all regards

Sample testing on Sofirn’s part is currently under way

An Excel spreadsheet will soon be added to make it much easier to track interest.

Update 1:

I’ve asked for a 26800 tube, and it seems like we’ll be getting a 26800 extension.
I’ve also asked for a green AR coated lens so we get more rosiness over more green.

Update 2:

Some pictures!

Update 3:

Some new information about the light has come around

1st mode is Eco(Sofirn is currently trying to get that to be lowered down to 5 lumens, but it is proving to be harder).

All of the other lumen measurements OTF are as expected… except for the fact that these numbers are far higher than what I got out of my samples

I’ll have to place a call at Getian to get this sorted out now

Anyway, I’m really excited about this since this could be the turning point for this light

Note: To get that 3700lm OTF, they had to bump up total power by 6%.

I wonder if Sofirn could be convinced to make the BLF version 26800 compatible… it’s just a longer tube, right?

Interested.

Definitely interested! Personal preference being as close to 4000k as possible.

Sort of interested.

Would prefer the GT-FC60 in the Convoy M3-C as it regulates at a constant brightness instead of Sofirn’s rollercoaster heat management, but I think I could be convinced.
Is there an estimate of max and sustained brightness in the SP33S?

Interested in this LED for sure… Hopefully soon, more details about the light will be out since Sofirn is on the move…

If we could get the firmware/controller chip swapped out for an Anduril one we would have much better thermal management, it would be nice if that could be done too.

Interested.

Interested but not 100% convinced, probably intrigued enough to gamble on it though.

Interested.
