Astrolux MF01: Trade in for Similar size but Sturdier and Single Celll

I have an MF01 with the 5K LED and I’ve had it for about 4 years. What I like is the tint, the size and the nice flood. What I don’t like is the fact that I can’t charge with the batteries in and the battery holder has been unreliable with occasional bumps causing an open in the battery holder (I’m running Samsung 18650-30Q button). It’s time to replace the batteries, and I’m regretting having to pay ~7 per cell plus shipping for about 32 USD total (for a 30Q or equivalent).

It’s more lumens than I need for it’s purpose, so I’m looking for something to replace with the following:

  • Single cell 18650 up to 21700
  • Charge battery in unit with USB-C, or other
  • Prefer flood, but spot with useable spill OK
  • Reliable (can drop and stays on)
  • Neutral light color preferred

As a side note I have an older Maglight (4 D cells) with a traditional halogen bulb that could be converted to LED so am open to suggestions for that as well.

EDIT: The simpler the better. I’d be happy with only a low and high setting.

It’s going to be tough to find a replacement for that with only a single cell. Most soda can style lights are multiple cells to achieve that kind of output. The smallest high output single battery light with onboard charging in 18650/21700 I can think of is the Astrolux MF01 mini. I have one and measured it at 7300 lumens on a 30T. Sofirn has the SP33v3 now, and Thrunite has the TC20 V2, both over 4000 lumens, single cell. Thrunite also has the T2, over 3000 lumens. The most bonkers single cell light I own is the Nightwatch NI03 with SFN55.2.

Check out the WILDTRAIL WT3M

I don’t need the full output of the MF01, so anything smaller is good. Thanks for the other suggestions I’ll check them out.

Wow, that’s like…EXACTLY what I was asking for. Thanks!
