Fenix LD20 Q5 £29 on Amazon UK

Just ordered (another) of these, and now only 2 left. Bought one last month for £41, so £29 including free shipping seems good to me. Seller is German, fulfilled by Amazon UK.

They also have a couple of Fenix TK40 for about £70, but my wife thinks I've spent enough on my new hobby this month!

the seller is Obramo-Security and i cant recommend them (i prefer Dinodirect, cheaper, free shipping, green dinos).

reason why so cheap is Q5 which is 4.0+ years old.

here is R5:

kreisler's recommendation: dont buy.

Damn! Already have. Didn't spot the difference between Q5 and R5. Ah well, I was going to gift it to someone anyway (and I have the R5). I know there is a new model coming out soon (LD22?), so thought that was the reason it was being sold off.

Thanks for the reply though - I'm a newbie, and will read things through a little more carefully next time.

There are a few differences, however in my opinion the Q5 one is still the best version Fenix made. A bit less efficient yes, but the best tint, throw, and beam (all the XP-G versions commonly have donut holes) of any of the LD20 series.

I'm really confused now. As I mentioned above, I already have the R5 version, which I bought earlier this year. On the box, it says LD20 Premium Q5, but the manual states it to be an XP-G R5. The light itself has Premium R5 on the head. Haven't really noticed the donut hole too much - maybe a hint on a white wall, but certainly outside it's fine.

I've a feeling I'm going to get another R5, which for £29 seems pretty good.

Fenix LD20 are all premium lights with good tint and performance. superior to budget lights. hehe.

you can check your Fenix serial number at:

See what it says!

Fantastic! Thanks Kreisler. When I first got the light I tried to register the warranty, but somehow couldn't. I didn't know that you could check the serial numbers. As expected I have a XP-G R5, and the country of origin is Germany, which I knew. Hopefully the one I just bought will be the same. Not that I care too much - I'm giving it away to someone who was amazed by a LD10 at Christmas (and has offered to give away his old maglites)! Think he'll like the 2 cell version.9

I have the old xre-q5 with an op reflector, dig it a lot, its got almost a nice green to yellow tint when compared to other leds, looks white until compared to other leds like the xpg-r5, i have premium xpg-r5 led lights too, and they are still very cold compared to the ld20 with the xre-q5, i have a few of them, you may just end up keeping the q5 when you get it, because it'll probably be a completely different light as far as light output goes. i would love to compare an xpgr5 ld20 vs the ld20 in xre-q5.

I hope he gives his old maglites to you, then you can mod them and give them back brighter!

Not a bad idea, though I doubt I would know how to! Could read up on it and start spending more money.

New model, XP-G R5 arrived this morning, so I'm quite pleased - a bargain at £29 ($45). Trouble is I already have one, so this will be a present.
