Hi everyone, I’m new to to the forum. I’ve learned quite a bit on here and through other listed links, and as I’ve added flashlights, I’m getting used to what I think works for me. I added several Sofirn and Wurkkos to my collection, and for what you pay, I really like the Sofirn products. I also have Astrolux, Lumintop, and a few Wowtac.
I was wondering if anyone here buys extra of anything they like? I have the Sofirn SC31 Pro with Anduril 1.0 and 2.0. Sofirn has these on sale for about $19, and with a battery that seems almost too good to pass up. Another site has the old Wowtac A1 for $10, and I like this model over the A6 I purchased. I guess I like the basic clicky as a car or pack light. So what do you do, add primarily new stuff or look for deals?
I apologize, they aren’t on sale. I got a couple of them for $26 each and I thought that was a good deal. I guess I’m asking if anyone bought something a few years ago, they liked it, and a new model is out, but you found the older one like 50% off, would you just get the new one or grab a couple extra of the older models?
Sorry for the confusion, didn’t mean to get your hopes up with the Wurkkos. They are on the Walmart website for under $22.
My wife says I have too many flashlights. But can you really have too many? I only have 90-100 lights. From all different companies. But I do like and have several Sofirn lights.
But I no longer just collect lights just to have them. I delved deep into modding them and making them my own. To me that’s vastly more rewarding and you learn a useful skill. For example I have over a dozen modded Convoy S2+s with different configurations like triples, mules, etc. Having multiples is fuel for experimenting.
I have multiples of just a few models, and there were a few that I wish I’d gotten seconds or thirds on before they disappeared (or were ruined, like the BLF FW3A made by Lumintop…such a shame).
Good reasons to buy more than one of a model you love: 1) you love it, 2) no guarantees it will be available next time you want to buy one, 3) backup for a failure that you can’t or don’t know how to fix, and/or when the manufacturer has spotty after-sale service or no parts availability, 4) when introductory/group buy prices/special coupons bring the price low enough to make it an excellent deal and those discounts are still available after you bought the first one and know you like it, 5) gifts.
Thanks to everyone for the replies. I ordered extra batteries last week, and the shipping is high unless you put in a big order. I noticed that places that have a clearance flashlight seem to be cheaper to ship, and they have a battery with the light. In any case, I just got my order from Fenix so I’m set for a while.
And somewhere around 50+/- other lights.
I do a lot of experimenting to see how impervious certain substances are to the elements;i.e.——-sand,salt air, heat, and wind.
Also to hand out to unprepared neighbors during power outages.
And 11 chargers, hundreds of batteries; both nimh and lion of different sizes.
My SP21Pro in green just arrived, it’s a very neat light!
Compared to the Convoy S2+ lights we all started with 6 years ago, technology really evolved.
Miniature well designed side switch lights with fully programmable Anduril (by TK), USB C charging, magnetic tail, with battery, cant beat that for around $29.
