The detailed steps are great. I just finished reviewing your posts for modding rrt-01s and planning to attempt one myself. Perhaps modding a V10r or V11r is in my future. Very nice.

thanks! The Sunwayman does not have the ball bearing and magnet that the RRT-01 has under the control ring.. less stuff to lose Smile

the Old RRT-01 Must have the driver removed before splitting the control ring assembly. The New RRT-01 and the Sunwayman lights can be split without removing the bezel and reflector first.

The hardest part is defeating any loctite that may be bonding the control ring halves..

the new RRT-01 does not need the cotrol ring separated in order to do an LED swap.. for those, pull the bezel and reflector.. leave the control ring alone.. (some are glued really tight, they can be lubed throught the outer hole instead of taking apart)..

happy to answer questions

Doing one of the new ones. Just waiting for the parts to arrive. I was hoping the external hole could be used to lube the control ring and you just confirmed it. Thanks.

For me, the quality of the light far surpasses the look of the flashlight. You could have a solid gold flashlight, but if it had a greenish tint, I would not use it. Or have a cheapo flashlight with a gorgeous LED and I would use it all the time.

You now matched a great flashlight with a great LED! Thumbs Up

I’d rather use my flashlight around the house than turn on the lights.
