XTAR M4CS: Light stays red even after many hours, and green light blinking

I’ve just bought this charger, I put two new Velamp rechargeable batteries (AAA 1000mAh) to charge, but it has been many hours that the light in the charger remains red.

If I try to fill the other 2 slots in the charger with 2 more batteries, however, 2 indicator lights are red and the other 2 are green and blinking. Is it normal or does the charger have some problem?

Thanks

Did you tried the cells in different slots?

Yes, still red

Have you cleaned all contacts?
2 x 4 in the charger and 4 x 2 on the batteries?

Just done (still red light), but both batteries and charger are new, arrived yesterday

Can you test the cells in a device (flashlight or something)?

Hope the cells are not deep discharged.

Red means it´s on activating/charging. If charging at 500mA the charging should be finished in less than 3 hours

I don’t know how I can check if It’s charging at 500mA.
The cells came pre-charged (not fully), so probably if I test them they will work. I had tried a 18650 yesterday, same problem (indicator light never turned green even after many many hours). Although I found out that since it is a 4800mAh, it is a dangerous battery and should not be used, I was told that 18650s go up to 3500mAh maximum.

At this point it could be the faulty charger

edit: I forgot to say that, even though the light remained red, the 18650 was working

Red means also it´s charging, Green should show up if the cell is fully loaded.

According to the manual this charger load 4 cells constantly at 500mA, 2 cells (only bay 1 + 4) at 1A

That´s why I prefer chargers with a LCD-display, if it only have some LEDs which used for different state you can only guess what´s happening actual

Yeah I know, but too many hours had passed for them not to have recharged. For now, this is enough for me which is cheap, I don’t have to use it much. However, I have already asked Amazon to replace the item, hopefully it will be resolved

Thank you all for your advice

If you have a DMM, aluminum foil, paper, and alligator clips you can see how many amps each slot is putting out. That should give you a clue into why the red light stays on.

That would be a good idea.

Maybe I missed the point, but what Power Supply you use?

I’ve used an old original samsung power adapter and my current xiaomi mi 8 lite power adapter (Quick charge 3.0)

OK, the Xiaomi should be deliver enough power

Update: It was the faulty charger, the new one works fine. Thanks to all

OK, nice
