I was wondering myself about SelfBuilt's reviews.

I read somewhere (possibly at candlepower forums) not too long ago that he had "retired".

He actually(Selfbuilt)got me ‘started’ on this hobby of light collecting and his site was one of three I frequented often.
I have too many LED types,so I gotta try at least one LEP and one HID. Thanks,HB

selfbuilt moved on to reviewing Whisky, and left flashlights behind in 2016.

I think zeroair started up in 2017, and now has the most extensive list of flashlight reviews.

I consider zeroair the Heir Apparent to sefbuilt.. lol

unless you need review info for lights made before 2017..

The oldest review of selfbuilt I could find on short notice was dated November 2006. So you can say he “earned” his retirement for doing this for us a full decade long!

You are a flashaholic if you are forced to come out of the closet, to make room for more flashlights.

Yes this an old username from the CPF days.
He was smart to migrate to reviewing spirits as there is more money in that.

I caught his reviews starting in 2008, and for some years down the road after that while I was still active on CPF. His review quality really shot up over time then plateaued. He really didn’t have anywhere else to go, except to get more free flashlights to review. But he really invested a lot of time into them.

I do believe he bailed out of flashlight reviews around 2015~2016. It’s rather a shame because efficiency and output kept improving and then tint quality discretion really became a thing. Frankly, he missed out on some of the best years of this hobby. But I can appreciate after a solid 10 years of doing reviews, he was worn out. Still, I’m curious to know what he’d have thought of Anduril.

Zeroair.org and 1lumen.com are the biggest flashlight review sites. I believe there was another one but I can’t remember the name.
