The C01S is a thief,

a joule thief that is.

This thing will run a AAA battery down to dirt. i measured 0.54 Volts on a cheap alky-leak, and the thing would still run another :30 on High till i got bored waiting for it to die.

Not sure what final voltage it might reach, but i had no idea that it would go so low.

Lol. I’ve done similar with the C01. Run it til it dies, let the battery rest a few hours and repeat. Crazy. Wish there was a light that would do the same for 3.0V lithium primaries, although I have no idea how low it’s safe to deplete them. I have more than a few waiting to recycle that still have >2.5V left.

For Lithium cells, if you plan to recycle bin them, then the safe thing to do is discharge down to zero to remove all the energy. This is done with EV lithium batteries also before disposal.

There is no danger to completely discharge a cell at nominal rates, but it is dangerous to charge a cell that has been discharged below the low voltage limit.
