Charge 14500 battery if unlisted? [resolved]

Edit: Thanks for the info! Will make sure it’s not charging at too high a current, there is a mA display.

I have a battery charger that lists many different sizes of li-ion batteries: 10440, 16340, 17335, 18490, 18650, 26650. It’s listed as compatible with Li-Ion and LiFePO4.

If I get a light that uses 14500 Li-ion batteries, would that be compatible with this charger, even though 14500 isn’t specifically listed? Physically, it would fit in the spring loaded slot because there’s so much travel. Are all Li-Ion battery sizes the same chemistry, so the overcharge voltage would be the same and charging parameters are also the same? It seems to be from my research, but maybe there’s other reasons I don’t know about.

Yes you can charge it using that charger. If you have the option I would charge it at 300ma to 400ma depending on the cell you have.

yes the process is the same

the only question is what charge current to use

maybe .5C

so if its “C” is 1500 mAH, you would pick 750mA or less, for a charge current

the size does not matter, they are just saying that because it gives a rough idea of its C
[capacity in mAH]
