D4K - flickering? [edit - looks like it's PWM]

[edit] - read a response in another forum that it’s PWM, and just bad luck my combination of components can’t handle the low moonlight well

I just got my first Noctigon light today. It’s a D4K w/ boost driver and 519a emitters. When I first got it, the moonlight was kind of too bright, so I followed the Anduril 2 chart to lower the floor for ramp. That made moonlight lower, but it seems to be flickering when it’s on the new low moonlight. It doesn’t seem to be PWM flicker, it’s kinda not consistent. Also, when I turn it on to moonlight from off, there’s a split second brighter level before it goes down to moonlight level. It’s quick, like 1ms maybe of this brighter level.

I have several other lights (SP36, TS21, SP10) . None of them exhibit this flickery moonlight or the split second initial higher brightness level. The SP10 has a much lower moonlight level than the D4K, while the TS21 and SP36 have similar moonlight brightness as the D4K.

Is this a bug with my particular unit? Or is that just how D4K’s are?

It’s not PWM. The lowest levels run outside of the specifications of the driver, which causes some fluctuations in the brightness.

This.

And not to be a pain, but the D4K are sold under Hanks Emisar brand

The flash before moonlight is normal, tells you you are in moonlight. Totally normal.

If you have a linear driver, the flash might be the result of the jumpstart feature. You can configure it, look into the manual.

The boost driver has a flash that is caused by the hardware.
