Best flashlight under $10 for 100+ people outdoors trip?

We are in the planning stages to supply over 100 flashlights to a few groups of young campers over the next year. We are looking to keep the flashlight cost under $12 a unit. It is also preferred that the flashlight use primary cell batteries only (non-rechargeable). Waterproof or water resistance is a bonus.

Any interesting suggestions for the best quality primary cell flashlights at this price point are welcomed!

The Coast G19 and the Coleman 250 M are current contenders.

the Lifegear AR tech floating flashlight/lantern:

currently selling for $12 on the Lifegear/dorcy site with 30% off, if you are ordering 100 I’m sure they would drop the price a good bit more if you ask them.

Take a look at the OT-50 Ozark Trail 50 lumen flashlight in the camping section at walmar, $1 with 3 AAA batteries included. Fits the mouth of a plastic gallon water jug to make a diffused hanging lantern. It has a circular emitter which most of the expensive lights lack.

Might be able to get a few at discount price

Energizer. I bought the 1800 Lumen version, takes 10AA primary. $10 from Amazon on special. Looks exactly like a 3D Maglite. Same build quality.

Nice!

I don't have a specific recommendation, but I would probably go with a cheap 1xAA flashlight like this one.

I prefer 1xAA over 3xAAA any day of the week even though 3xAAA is usually brighter.

It wouldn’t hurt to contact Lumintop on Amazon to see if they might be able to do a quantity discount on the Tool AA. I don’t think Olight would be able to hit the price point but it wouldn’t hurt to ask them as well and see if they have a cheaper AA model they could offer.

The rotatable angle head Nicron N7 might be another option to consider although that one is pretty easy to accidentally turn on in a pack or pocket unless they undo the tailcap a bit. The price on that light is just wildly inflated now…couple years ago it was selling for $8 and they continually upped it to as high as $20 but I think it’s most often $14 or so….I’ll bet they’d do a quantity discount if asked (via Amazon).

Headlamps are much better than handhelds for camping. I wouldn’t be too picky at the $10 price point. I’d want more than the smallest capacity, so you aren’t changing batteries all the time. For example, choose the 3xAAA headlamp over the 2xAAA headlamp. Something like this would be sufficient:
