Sofirn if25a standby led ?

Hi everyone

I have an if25a and find it really good.

However I can’t find info on the standby led colours

Mine has the orange led

I can set it to be off, on low, on high or flash in standby ok.

When charging it goes blue, but sometimes in use it goes blue and sometimes blue and orange together when in use…

What does this mean?

Can I make it blue on standby?

Thanks

Ron

Just ignore the blue. It is controlled by the charging controller and turns on randomly.

My Sofirn IF25A standby LED is green.

I unscrew the tailcap somewhat so that the LED turns off.

I don't know how much electricity it uses, but it drains the battery at least a little bit.

Oh really
Didn’t expect that from Sofirn

I actually thought it was possibly a low battery indicator

But thanks

This sounds like an issue introduced with Anduril 2. The older version of IF25a that had Anduril v1 didn’t have this issue. But I’ve heard of other wurkkos/Sofirn lights do this.

Does your IF25a have battery bank function?

The orange led is meant to show the powerbank power remaining status, but looks like the IF25A doesn’t have that feature. Sofirn use the same switch pcb across many models, so you just need to ignore it.

You can’t change the switch led color unless you solder some in or you change the wires around.

Hi

No does not have battery bank function

Yes i read it was random if you got green or orange led from factory, super powerful light pity about this tho, I hate things that dont work properly , if not used they should disable it instead of a random blue button as is now.

Thanks for reply

At these prices it doesn’t bother me, if we want a fully polished light then there’s always the high end brands out there.

I just got a new IF25A and was also initially confused about it having both orange and blue lights instead of just green and why the blue lights were turning on. It appears that Sofirn did a silent upgrade to the light as it actually does support power bank now. I’ve tested it and it seems to output at about 15 watts. I think the switch is now the same as the SP36 and it has the same behavior as the SP36 with the blue lights staying lit for around 10 seconds after turning off. Apparently the blue light denotes that the battery has sufficient charge to work as a power bank but the blue light behavior does seems quasi random and it seems to be a known bug. As mentioned, the blue lights are tied to the charging circuit and not controllable by Anduril whereas the orange lights can be programmed, just like the prior green lights. I hadn’t expected the IF25A to have the power bank feature and was pleasantly surprised that it was updated.

So it does have a powerbank function now, explains the orange LEDs. Thanks for the input

Ron173 and Stan_WS,

Where did you purchase your IF25A from?

Thanks.

And welcome to the forum Stan_WS

I'm considering purchasing another IF25A but I would prefer the "Original Anduril-2 Version" (with Green and Red Switch LEDs and no power bank function), just so it is identical to the other ones I purchased earlier this year at AmazonUS.

Thanks for the welcome! I had thought that eventually someone would post about the updated IF25A but as I haven’t seen anyone else post about it, either here or reddit flashlight, I took the jump and registered to post. Anyway, I ordered my light directly from Sofirn. In addition, there’s a posting on this site from a user named Zephon in late August of this year who received a warranty replacement light where the light was compared to a TS21 due to seeing random blue light behavior and having amber switch lights. This seems to strongly imply that Sofirn made this change as early as August this year, if not earlier.

Oh, that’s interesting they added powerbank. I wonder what the drain on the IF25a looks like, if it’s same or less efficient than it was before. But now it’s got the same feature as the Wurkkos TS21. That’s kind of a tough choice. But I like the IF25a’s button more than the wurkkos button.

@ “new” IF25a owners: it would be interesting to measure current draw with button light set at high setting. The “old” IF25a button draws 1.55 mA, whereas Wurkkos TS21 draws 12.9 mA, way too high and about 10 times higher than any other light.

Wurkkos knows this flaw very well as the topic has been discussed a few times here; I hope they have fixed it for Sofirn.

Judging from the crazy button color behavior you are describing (also seen in Wurkkos, considered “normal”), maybe they have not :person_facepalming: ?

Oh ok
Great info
Thanks

There is a lack of info on aux current consumption in general. Sometimes I see conflicting info on current consumption, and it’s hard to know if it’s measurement methodology/error or if the manufacturer making design changes behind the scenes. But there’s a lot of unacceptably high aux current consumption that are compounded by lack of LVP on certain aux modes.
