anywhere in continental us is 5.50 $

just thinking out loud ..

any ideas ?

Hey Boaz - what's up dude? Not a bad idea but who's lights are going to be in the package? It would cool to try out a bunch of lights and then pay $5.50 to ship it to the next member, but how long do you think it would take for one box to travel from one member to the next, have them try out the lights and ship it to the next person.

By the time the box made it around the country, some lights might not even be available. Maybe have a couple of boxes going around the country. Maybe a vendor would *cough*donate/write it off to marketing expense*cough* some lights and we would reciprocate by purchasing from that vendor.

Just thinking out loud with ya'................

Nice idea - limit on number, say 5? It would be fun. We should start with rikr or ILF - they wouldn't even notice 5 gone...Laughing

I voted delete. We have discussed it earlier. If you mean that only US members

or any other country, can participate, it can be done, but be expensive due to

shipping costs, But If I should receive a package from outside Europe I´ll have

to pay import tax and custom dues as well as postage. Fine example of a good

idea which is not possible to implement.

I think it is a cool idea.

Just because it might only work in ConUS for some, doesn't mean it can't also be done for those in Europe too, ie, a separate pass around. Nobody has to participate if they don't want the expense...

Even if we over the pond don't get a go it would still be interesting to hear different peoples views on lights

Only if I get to design the packaging. :)

if i am the last in line of the passaround tricktrip, i would like to keep the package. till then the lights had been used (used up ;) ) by so many of you folks that they're not in mint condition anymore anyway.

haha

(ok, wasnt funny. bad try, kreisler )

We can also add a little something into the box for the next member. I would add a box of Hawaiian chocolate macadamia nuts when I send it off to the next member.

Sounds great. But probably a bad idea.

People will keep sending the box back to me.

We could organise an EU one - saves taxes. Let's see what people are prepared to lend out for a couple of months.

What are people interested in testing/playing with/having a go with?

Don, because you have soooo many flashlights -- it might take a few days for people to decide what lights they would like to try out.

I didn’t vote as there wasn’t a choice that reflects my thoughts on the subject. I guess all that really matters is the first option anyway if you are trying to gauge interest.
I don’t think it’s a bad idea or that the flashlights will be stolen so I didn’t vote #2. I’m just not interested in the concept.
If enough people vote for #1 and you can get enough lights to do this that’s all that matters I suppose.
The only problems I see are finding someone willing to have their lights passed around (getting beat up along the way possibly) or the hassle of trying to find manufacturers/dealers willing to donate the pass-around lights.
There are very few lights that interest me and the few that do I buy. I just wonder how many people would really participate in this?
It would make for interesting reading however so …party on!

A packet with insurance (up to €500) would cost €5.90 shipped to Germany and €15.00 shipped to most EU countries. For that kind of money I can buy most of the lights I am interested in. Sending a bunch of lights which or not mine without insurance is not an option for me. The dangers of them getting lost under my watch is not a risk I am willing to take. So until someone comes along with an ingenious way of cheaper insured shipping methods for the EU ... it will probably not happen for German BLF members.

Didnt vote. Dont like the idea anymore. Tried this on another forum in another hobby. Was shipping only inside Denmark. Worked less than 10 members the first time. Then after a while we tried again with different tools. I think it worked for exactly 10 members. Then

Sorry to be the bearer of ill tidings. Just dont want this idea to take off without you guys knowing about the sore losses suffered by some of us elsewhere.

You can organize one for German members...Same as within Canada for me if I had interest but I dont...

Let the US guys do their thing, it takes too long for international anyways.

In my opinion it sounds like a good idea on the surface but i expect it to turn out real bad with lots of arguments and ill feelings. If anyone does decide to do it I wish you the best of luck. I’m going to steer clear of this one.
