Cree Chromaticity Regions

For the ANSI white section they have 4 regions per CCT.

For example 4000k has 5A, 5B, 5C, 5D, but only 1 ordering code.

Do you get a random tint if you order a reel?

I think it depends on whether you try to specify an actual bin code or if you save a little and get the “easy white” program bins, which have a small range within them. I’ve never ordered from them and just onesies from places like Digikey, etc., but reading the datasheets and comments in the past that’s what it appears to be. I’ll bet whoever you’re ordering a reel from can confirm anything about the emitters.

They tend to be a “range” rather than fixed CCT. A and D are below the BBL, B and C above the BBL, and similar for warmer/cooler.

Gets freaky when you get to the 7s, and you have like 7A1 and whatnot.

If ordering a reel, I imagine you’d specify all that. Like those 13-digit ordering codes with everything spelled out (package, brightness bin, etc.).

Even if you don’t order a full reel you can ask the distributor for the bin code, I’ve messaged Arrow and digikey a couple of time and they told me what they had, and if they need to order it I’m sure they can get the info from Cree.

Thanks for the info. I emailed mouser once and they couldn’t tell me the bin.
