Convoy L21B SFT40 Review – Best Budget Thrower?
I like it a lot. Simple thrower even Gomer Pyles could use.
Nice light but can use a little bit more heat sinking if not for any other reason, it would look better.
But seriously, nice work. Love mine. It’s almost TOO much. I chuckle every time I hit the button.
In my tests it got pretty warm, but not overly so. I measured 54 C maximum.
For the weight savings, that’s pretty good and there’s still enough thermal mass to keep the temperatures in check.
Great light. I just wish it had tons of different emitter options like the C8+/S2+ do.
Totally agree. Living in NE US, the majority of my runtime on this torch is fall/ winter, so no issues with excessive heat. I keep it in group 10 (1,10,35,100), and 35% covers most use cases for me. Full throttle pushes a ridiculous amount of light, and the splash back is self defeating in all but the most wide open ranges or where ambient light requires the power to reach out. It’s a legit 900M plus light in the right environment. So good for so little expense. SFT-40 is great in the IF22-22A, but the L21B takes it to another level.
Yah, I’d love it with a xhp70.3 HI and a boost driver. You could swap one in. It just takes a 20mm mcpcb and 22mm driver.
I actually couldn’t swap one in. I don’t know a thing about circuitry or electronics, or care to know. I like flashlights, not tinkering with electronics or building flashlights. My only role in the transaction is to pay people who offer the products I want. It’s working out pretty well for people like Simon and Hank, with some exceptions like this model, but that’s life.
I’ve got mine with the green W2 and it will light up targets at 1250 yards. What an impressive light! I think Funtastic said that his with a green W1 does 1700 yards.
