Will these 18650 batteries 'work' in my new Sofirn IF22A SFT40 3amp

Just bought this light (Sofirn IF22A.SFT40) which is on it’s way to me,but I have some spare18650’s I would like to use.
The light is supposed to take a single 21700,but since I don’t have any right now, will my Darkmatter 18650,3000 mAh,1.5A discharge ‘work’ electrically and also being a little loose. What should I looking for IF the 1.5A 18650 won’t work, will I hurt the light in any way? Thanks,H50

Get yourself a Molicel 21700 and be done with it. The 18650 will likely not work but I guess you can try it.

Thanks,I needed that ‘push’ to buy the proper batteries, but I thought I could get by with my spare 18650’s. Better be safe than sorry. Thanks,HB

18650’s should definitely work in the light. You might have to put some o-rings or cardboard around it if it rattles too much, and/or add a spacer to the end of the battery if it’s too short to make solid contact with the tail cap spring, but other than that I don’t see any reason why it wouldn’t work.

Lots of people run 18650’s in 21700 flashlights without any issues other than rattles or having to add a spacer.

For something with a single SFT40 emitter, a high capacity 21700 would be ideal.

A cell with 5000mAh (for longer runtime) is what I use.

I understand that there is a Panasonic NCR18650A inside your Darkmatter. So you can always remove the protection and get 6A (already something).

If the IF22A had dual springs, all you’d probably need is an adapter tube to compensate for the smaller diameter of an 18650.

Since it doesn’t, you’d also need some sort of shim to make up for the shorter length as well unless it’s some abnormally long protected cell; might as well get a proper 21700 cell.

Thanks and I bought two 21700 ’s Thanks,HB

That is the best answer… for sure.
