(enjoying my new lt1) Trying to figure out the LT1 flashlight interface

Hey guys. Nothing too important today. Just enjoying finally getting the LT1 and not too bothered if I can’t figure everything out.
I hope I shouldn’t be worried, that the device isn’t defective.
I tried a factory reset. I wasn’t able to figure out how to get to strobe mode or Advanced UI.
I got the ramping to smooth mode. But after the reset, the tint adjustment is stepped.
At some point, it was even dimming to bluish tint while brightening with some more yellow warmth. Is that a mode? Is it possible to reverse that? Yellow at brightest or bluish at brightest, then down to the opposite.

I don’t know if I was in Muggle mode or simple UI or what. I might not need to tinker much after I at least set the settings how I prefer or need/require.
I wonder about changing the button LED settings or what else.

What’s the waterproof rating? Well it seems the if25a is ipx8. At first glance the pages I saw for lt1 had 2 conflicting info.
I also have a BLF A6. They aren’t being officially sold anymore, right?
The Sofirn seller accidentally sent me the if25a instead of an LT1 last time, and I had to dispute it, but I got a decent deal around black friday.

So generally I’m enjoying this.
Thanks for the advice to get this.

Ok I forget what else. I’m using the lamp and sometimes when changing tint, it reverts back to where it started.
I’m not understanding it too well, but I had it working before. I’m not sure if I should be concerned about it or it’s a “feature” I’m not clear on.

Do you think my device is defective? Or is there something I’m doing wrong?

That is not something which is included in Anduril. Are you sure the tint ramping is stepped? If you keep the button pressed at the end of 3H, you will end in the auto tint ramping mode. Press the button three times and keep it pressed. The color might jump, but should then smoothly transit to the other end. If you keep it pressed, it will jump again. This is the other side of the auto tint ramping.

Auto tint ramping means, that the color will adjust together with the brightness. Low is warm and high is cool or the other way around (depending on the direction you have enabled it).

Ok so that’s what the blink at the end of holding it means?
After 3H, if I hold it a second or so longer, it blinks.
I’m not quite understanding exactly how to set the low brightness tint and the high brightness one.

And I was noticing some jumping of tint. I don’t remember if it was before at the beginning of 3H or after I held it a bit too long. So maybe that’s my explanation.

It definitely had smooth tint adjustment at one point.
And now it’s stepped.

For now I’m not too serious about setting this up. But I had it working and then after failing to enter Strobe or whatever Advanced mode is.
I hope I don’t have to return the lamp if it’s not working how it should.

And yes it does seem to jump to the wrong color all of a sudden… Sometimes.
Both at the beginning and end of 3H.
Sometimes at the beginning and sometimes at the end.

Mine just seems to move too fast on tint change. It is real hard to catch the tint that I want.

BTW @SammysHP, how do you turn off the Auto Tint function after it has been activated… ??

Tint ramp in the other direction via 3H. It always goes from one color to the other and at both ends, after a short delay, comes auto tint ramping.

1 Thank

I can’t get strobe working

2 clicks and hold
3H
From off

The light turns on the first click and the button light turns off
But turns off the second click
And holding the third, the button and lamp light are still off

Not sure why I’m having trouble getting into any modes

And now somehow the tint changing is ramped (edit: stepped) again

What’s auto tint?

You are in Simple UI. Strobe is only available in Advanced UI (10H from off).

I don’t know how to explain auto tint ramping different than in the manual or my previous post.

Still having trouble. I tried to factory reset.
It blinked a few times and went to cooler tint.

I’ve previously been able to do the 7 clicks to get the button LED to go softer
Strobe tends to work
Tint ramping was sometimes not smooth, sometimes is…I think?
But I got brightness ramping to be smooth.

Sometimes the low brightness, up to high, would also adjust tint along with the brightness??

Now I pressed a button 4 times accidentally to get Strobe
and now a bunch of stuff isn’t working right

that’s when I tried factory resetting
Unscrew it, hold the button, while screwing the battery compartment back on and keep holding the button for 3 seconds?
It’s blinking a few times and going through a couple modes

and now I can’t get Strobe at all
and 7 clicks doesn’t adjust the button LED

how hard is it to get these covered by warranty?
do they have USA service?

also what’s the best way to get a deal on Aliexpress? Last year I got a really low price relatively.
Try watching the price and see if there’s a few $2 and $3 coupons.

LT1s feels like cheap

LT1 is premium besides being too complex to function properly maybe

Also Sofirn sent the wrong item first and was hard to dispute
get what you pay for? sometimes not.

That sounds like the reset was successful and you’re now in simple UI. Do 10H (click ten times and hold the last) to enter advanced UI. There you’ll have strobe and the possibility to change the aux settings.

1 Thank

thanks got it

i might consider getting another at some point
or maybe some other kinds
which subforum could i post to ask about custom strobe circuitry to record and do a loop
if there’s some kind of way to build something or tweak an existing circuit

Tint ramping might also appear steppy at very low brightness levels due to limited available dynamic range, there’s only a couple of levels between the present level and zero for each of the drivers. Check if the steppiness of the tint ramp you’re seeing correlates with current brightness setting, if so, it’s that.

That’s automatic tint ramp, tint setting tied to brightness setting. It goes into this mode when you keep holding the button pressed after the light has reached either end of the tint ramp. 3H to get out, beware, the tint might jump so don’t be startled, keep holding until you reach your desired tint and don’t forget to release before you hit auto tint mode on the opposite end of the tint ramp.

Are you familiar with this UI chart?

Yeah @Sanman, I think that you should get very familiar with using Anduril and all of the options before you think about modding the light in any way. It is possible to change many things by re-flashing the firmware, but that is an other level.
Though I don’t think there is a way to record a strobe loop and flash that… At least I have never seen any discussion of that anywhere.

Just curious, why would you want to do that? I am curious because I seldom use strobe on any of my lights. I don’t believe that I have ever used that mode on any of my lanterns… other than maybe to see if it works. Just genuinely curious.

Might be to freeze motion, for photography or inspection. The PIC built in oscillator is probably way too drifty for any use case that requires precise timing though.

i had another version that has less info
thanks for this

Still trying to understand some of what you’re saying about tint ramping and whatnot
Yes, I’ve done 2 short clicks and Long hold the 3rd, while the lamp is on
That’s how I adjust the tint, but sometimes it does jump to the opposite tint and then backwards or something

Ok I think I mostly get that what it’s doing might be how it is and supposed to be
hopefully
For basic use of brightness and tint, and maybe some strobe, it’s nice
Better than the LT1s in my opinion, especially if they’re in similar price, if build quality and the Anduril is worth anything.

there’s potentially a lot to interface with it
some kinds of inputs, layering or compounding adjusting a pattern (ever use a music DAW software?)

not for modding this lamp i guess
but if there’s some DIY stuff, I could post in that subforum
