A VASTFIRE Green Hunting Zoomie Flashlight from Amazon

Who knows what a Youtube Premiere broadcast is?

Looks like actual monochromatic green, vs phosphor-converted.

My only grexes about zommies is that they’re waaaaaaaaaaay less water-resistant than reflector/TIR, and the ~30% efficiency when fully zoomed (or zommed).

If you’re going a-killin’, you won’t want to do it in the rain with one-a those.

Reflectors waste too much in spill, and can wash out what you see with a brightly-lit foreground vs what’s thrown downfield.

A good TIR lens (IF22A, Catapult Mini, etc.) can throw a tight beam with little waste.

I just wish a mfr would come out with one of those in monochromatic and TIR.

I agree. Zoomies are a love-em-or-hate-em thing.

I got the Cat Mini after seeing your review, and it’s a nice little light, and can throw a tight beam, so there really isn’t that much of an excuse for a mfr to not make a TIR-based killin’ light with a monochromatic emitter.

The HS-802 was always my go-to lights for red/green, as they usually had those emitters, and the deep reflector pushed the spill far out ahead so you wouldn’t be swamped with wash-out light right in front of you. Most had hot Es and E2s because the ’802 was out forever. Toss in one of those CSI.NY emitters and man, they’d kick arse.

The Anekim lights, ’though pricey, throw nice tight beams. I got older green and newer green and red. Not that much difference between old and new that I could tell. Green really shows up on trees, obviously, and red will show up just as bright as green on white walls at a distance, but on trees won’t show up much if at all. Green lit up by red light, so whaddya expect?

And the Anekims also come with the Picadilly mounts, remote switch, all the good stuff. One huge difference is that they’re 1 mode, just on’n’off, so no silly blinky modes or other idiocy. Tailswitch only, too. So yeah, pretty “tactical”.

The square beam of the zoomie is not attractive.
