Hey All! New member looking for some help and advice!

Just a simple mechanic who likes flashlights, looking for some solid, reliable, unbiased, and useful information about flashlights and better battery powered shop/work lights. Some other lighting forums tend to be a bit ‘head in the clouds’ but this place seems more down to earth and friendly. I’m hoping I can find a replacement for my aging Rofis TR20’s here, I love the lights but both of mine are getting old and starting to have some issues. I’d also love to track down an inexpensive and reliable battery spot welder so I can repair some other battery powered lights or upgrade them with higher capacity batteries. I’ll get some threads up with specific questions in the right sections but figured I’d start here with a hello.

Hi Bitterr, welcome to BLF. There is a wealth of knowledge and a lot of good people here.

I hope you have fun here, Bitterr!

I think you would be happy with Streamlight’s offerings.

Welcome to BLF

Unfortunately or fortunately, there are too many selections. It’s all about personal preference.

Welcome to BLF!

I’m sure you will find the forum quite useful, friendly and responsive. Lot’s of good and knowledgeable people around here.

There is no magic wand either. Understanding and finding what suits you the best can take time. Watch your wallet too. The amazing flashlights we come to know about here are irresistible… I quit trying to know how many I bought over the years, mostly for fun. Not mentioning a case of batteries and a number of chargers… And then if you get into modding… :person_facepalming:

Welcome to BLF Bitterr!

Convoy makes some great, reliable, and affordable flashlights: Convoy flashlight Store

My first question after hearing “What kind of flashlight should I get?” is a simple “Whaddya gonna DO widdit?”.

Thrower for seeing what’s at the opposite end of a big field? Close-in work like a plumber or electrician? Prefer warmer or cooler colors? How bright? What size max/min? Expected runtime?

Need more info for any meaningful answers.

And “I just wanna replace my TR20” doesn’t really help much, because you should be asking what does the TR20 do that you don’t want, or not do that you do want? Might as well get something “better” while getting a new light, eh?

Glad you came, welcome. Here’s a TR20 style light that I can recommend. Great features and built to last at a bargain.
