Here is something I did awhile back. It is a mini, cut down to a single cell, but the cell is a CR123. It can also work with a single AA size Li-Ion battery ( 14500 ) without the spacer.
Sweet, Will! That looks just like one of mine. Stock internals I presume?
Yep - just the standard stuff inside. Does yours have a CR123?
Nope. Mine run on a 14500 cell and push about 700 lumen from an xm-l. :)
Will & Jonny Mac - I thinking about getting some 1AAs made here in the UK. Can either of you remind me of the tap required. It's something obsure like 5/16 whitworth?
I cut mine down on a lathe, not a tap. I don't have my notes here in Florida.
5/8-28G if I recall correctly. The “G” signifies a special British standard with a 50° thread angle. A regular 5/8-28 with a standard 60° thread angle works just fine.
I want to see your final results. Best of luck!
Johnny
thnks for the comments guys
That is close to Whitworth 55° thread angle see here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Standard_Whitworth
