Costco 3-pack of XP-G flashlights!

Has this been discussed already?

I went into Costco and noticed they had the clamshell package of 3 torches but the package says they a 'CREE XP-G' lights. The old ones were XR-E or XP-E, can't remember which, but I was not impressed.

So for $20 I bought it. Nice deep reflector, polycarbonite body, and the package comes with 9 x AAA Duracells. It would be a nice gift light for a non-flashaholic, I bet, and it is also good for preppers who want Alkalines. Good trade bait in an emergency.

I'll update this when I have a chance to try one out tonight.

The XP-G is new. Great price, have to get down there.

I bought a set of 3 about 2 weeks ago, they were metal body though and for $15, not bad IMO though.

wow prices soon no reasons for USA ppl to order from china xD

Here I seen today at electronic shop 4 AA eneloops at 15Eur, and the cheapest power led flashlight was sold at LIDL, 15eur 2AA zoom XP-E.. ...is way better a sipik68

Curious... can these lights take an 18650 cell? A lot of 3AAA lights have two springs, and theres enough room in there for an 18650. I was looking at these for mod hosts.

If you could post pics of them taken apart that would be great!!

thanks!!!

I don't think so, they are "necked in" between the emitter and the batteries.

Hmm, after closer inspection, might work. I was wrong, these do have "aluminum alloy" bodies, it is the lens that is polycarb. The light is small, just slightly larger than a 501A body, 4.5 inches from tip to tail.

Kind of a funky UI

First click-turns light on, on Low

2nd click goes to High

3rd click goes to Strobe

4th click turns light off.

Looks like a good "gift" light, for less than $7 each.

tailstands nicely. You can also "long-press" the tailswitch to shut if off.

I always glance at these when I walk past them, which is pretty much about every 9 days, haha. I didn't realize they come in XP-G now. Last I noticed the price was $20. Seriously, not a bad investment since these make great gifts for the average person.

It appears my set was the old set rates at only 150 lumens, still impressed me, may need to pick these onea up now as well, lol.

My cousin bought a pack of these for $15, and I played around with them a little. Nice lights for the $$. a little flimsy, thin wall feeling but nothing all together terrible for the $. I couldn't unscrew the bezel area, so modding these could be a little tricky. I dont know if it would survive an 18650, I didn't want to chance it on his light. Just looking at the spring stackup and the amount of room I think an 18650 would be a tight fit.

Really nice / aggressive knurl though. Good beater / loaner lights for sure.

I have purchasd two of the 3-packs, gave away a couple of the first one, keeping the 2nd one for emergencies...

I purchased some just like these a year ago the 150 lumen and returned them because they had a indicator light in the tail cap that would let you know when the batteries were going dead well, I would also that would drain the batteries in a week .

Sorry i didn't notice the **** to the right I was focused on the flashlight ...what were you saying again ?

why did you do that to me .... Now I gots ta know ..what parking lot are you getting your lights again ?

I got some of the 150lm ones in early March, no longer have the indicator light so no battery drain issues anymore.

Might be heading to COSTCO on Monday at lunch then!....Ummm COSTCO pizza and a churro

Go for the Chicken Bake!

Was at my warehouse less than an hour ago. I noticed this 3 pack was now at $13.97. I think they're great as gifts for non Flashaholics and/or for loaners etc.

My brothers had those Costco lights when I was visiting last weekend. I have to admit I was fairly impressed with the output. Switch felt odd, like an electronic switch, but nice. Walls were thin but knurling was very nice. Plastic lens is press fit and bezel and head are one piece. Head seems well glued to the body tube. Not easily modded.

I bought a pack. When you try to unscrew the front of the light by hand it does seem as though it is glued, but it isn’t. I popped the light in a vice and grabbed the head with locking pliers (cushioned with a rag). Once I removed it the first time it was smooth on and off afterward. The head is just extremely tight!

I also thought of using an 18650 in the light, but it won’t fit without modding the light. Maybe removing some plastic in the tail cap.

The LED in the light I have taken appart is a XPG R3 bin if anyone was curious.

My buddy has these lights also. I think that he bought one of those cheap harbor freight multi-led lights and removed the tail switch and installed it in the costco light and now when you depress the clicky switch it is on in high and depress it again it is off. Basically modding it to a single mode. From memory i think he said that it made a little more clearance for potential installation of 18650’s. Also mentioned something about the batteries lasting longer now. He found the procedure on you tube i think

I too bought the three pack of XPGs at Costco. Was on sale for $15. I’m not a fan of the strobe so I’m working on modding it to single mode.

Out of the box.

Reverse Clicky in the Techlite

And this is where I hit a problem. I broke off too much metal on the 9-led reverse clicky so it can’t contact the body side of the Lumen Master tailcap. I’ll have to solder more on there so it can make contact. Now where did I put that soldering iron…
