How much have you spent on batteries?

I just got my order from Hank. 4 black 3100 mah Panasonics. I started thinking how much I have spent on lithium batteries. I thought about $200 but it would be actually over $350 maybe more. Is there really a need to have so many batteries when I don't leave batteries in most of my lights.

I haven't even considered how much I have spent on rechargeable AA's- AAA's.

geez, over 200 just on lead acid and slas lol

i don't want to add the rest up. i need to buy more and that will make it stressful.

No idea how much I have spent but somewhere along the line I became more of a battery collector than a flashlight collector.

I’ve spent less than $100 on li-ion batteries and less than $100 on NIMH.

+1

I caught myself looking at some handsome cells on the net today, so I remembered that I've had some fresh ones that I haven't seen on my desk in a while.

So I rummaged a bit to find them and realized that I have 8 brand new 18650s and 4 old ones from a laptop battery (still decent), stored in boxes.

At the same time NONE of my flashlights are empty.

That's just plain wrong.

Viktor

I've got 8 cells and 7 flashlights. :D

2 TF2400 - 10$

4 TF3000 - 25$

2 HiMax 2600 - 18$

..yup, thats pretty much all. A little over 50$.

I do like the look of the black panasonics and the xtars.

4xXtar 2600, 5xXtar 2400, 3xSanyo 2600, 6x TF flame(two fake) 2400, 2x no name 2200 from DX. Too much

Hmm, let's see..

40 AA Eneloops: $80

8 AAA Eneloops: $15

4 Xtar 2600mAh: $30

4 Intl-outdoors 3100mAh: $55

2 RediLast 3100mAh: $40

16 A123 16650's: $35

6 A123 26650's: $50

3 Zippy 8400mAh 2S LiFePO4 packs: $100

Holy spill, that's a lot of dollars just for the batteries.

If I include 12v batteries. More than I care to count.

I generally pick up a new battery or two with every new flashlight, so I have way more than I need.

I bought two packs of Eneloops last time they were on sale at Costco, but that's a useful spend on batteries that can be used in a lot of things besides flashlights.

Just started with 26650's....

All of the others are scavenged laptop batteries .

Didn't keep very good track.

100- 123's, 20- cr2's, 12- 16650's, 6- 18700's ... and more, in the last week. I was a closet flashlight person for a decade. Now that I have come out, there is alot of traffic around my house. People stop by for a few minutes and leave with small packages. The neighbors watch. I have developed a furtive, petty criminal look for the moment. The neighborhood will get used to my new popularity.

Two nights ago around midnight I noticed someone checking out a vacant house across the street. They were creeping around with cheezy lights so the old 1000 lumen Eagletac seemed about right (200 feet across the street). Opp's sorry you didn't look like cops sneaking around like that. Just keeping an eye on the place. Accidental disco moment before fade to black. Kinda funny watching them stumble around.

6 * Solarforce 2400mAh = $42

2 * intl-outdoor.com 3100mAh = $28

2 * CNQ Panasonic NCR18650A protected 3100mAh = $26

1 * Panasonic CGR18650CH = $8.76

1 * ICR26650E = $8.50

This makes a total of $113.26 for my batteries.

4X 18700 Xtar 2600mah=$27(Serena)

2X Rcr123 Xtar 600mah=$7

4X 18650 TF flames 2400mah=$22 (DinoD)

4X 18650 TF flames 3000mah=$24 (DinoD)

2X 14500 TF flames 900mah=$6

2X 14500 GTL Blue 1200mah=$5

2X 14650 Ultra fire Blue 1200mah=$6(ordered wrongly)

4X 10440 Ultra Fire Blue 600mah=Forgot the $

2X Rcr123 TF flames waiting for arrival...

Eh...

Let see...

  • 1 pair Trustfire Flame 18650 $10
  • 1 pair Trustfire Flame 14500 $5.50
  • 1 pair Trustfire Flame 16340 $5.00
  • 1 pair non-protected 10440 $5.00
  • 1 pair protected 10440 $5.00

...so about $30. Most of my cells for 18650 lights are salvaged from laptop battery packs.

I have about 150 nimh batteries (120+ eneloops), 40-50 li-ion's (mostly 18650's), 4-5 li-ion chargers, 2 c9000's, etc. I would say I've spent several hundred dollars.

Well, despite my wooden shoe heritage, I go the very non frugal cr123a route, so I don't even want to contemplate the number.

I see a lot of talk about scavenged laptop batteries. How does one scavenge laptop batteries unless you are a laptop repairman or salesman or a garbageman?

Can’t say for other people, but I recently got a new netbook and immediately bought extended (6-cell) battery pack for it, so I had a brand-new (as netbook itself) 3-cell 18650 pack for my sadistic hands to rip apart. :stuck_out_tongue:
