On the left, regulated clicky XM-L kit.  On the right, direct-drive XM-L twisty.  Some assembly required.  $45 for the clicky, $35 for the twisty kit.

So, I just rouge that bit-o-aluminum a bit, ground it to 5 amps and give her 220, 221 volts, "whatever it takes?"
