Various HobbyKing discounts

Hi there,

I've lately noticed that a lot of you guys are getting various stuff from HobbyKing - hobby chargers, Turnigy-branded NiMH's, and some other things.

So here's a pair of sites, that offer HobbyKing 'buddycodes' - links using which you can get things at discounted prices:

http://hk.rc-international.info/swarm

Sometimes discounts are quite big - for example, DE warehouse stocking of Turnigy Accucel-6 (quite popular model over here) has a buddycode with 30% discount ($39.99 -> $28.06), Turnigy AAA LSD batteries - 28% ($0.79 -> $0.57), various LiPo packs with 20-30% discounts, etc - so always check those 2 links before shopping at HK. :)

Tried to get those AA Turnigys for test.

In first case code did not work and on later attempts, it let me add only 1pcs to cart so I might be doing something wrong :(

You must be logged in for code to work, and there's indeed 1 item per order limit, sadly :(

Still better than nothing :P

Thanks, was looking the other day to see if there were any discount for the Solo Pro 100 they have cheap at the US warehouse. Ended up holding off (due to mixed reviews) and ordered a V911 to get my reflexes back in shape.

That sucks, they could up the limit on batteries, otherwise its quite useless, unless you buy something that costs $40+.

Well, I don know how much there but for say 5pcs regular priced AA's to Finland was just a bit too close to 2€/pcs including shipping.

2€/pcs is local Eneloop price, so no point at all other than curiosity.

Buying them alone is not worth it (due to shipping), but when you make e.g. 800g order, filling rest 200g with those AA's and AAA's is very sensible thing to do.

I've never been able to get a battery order through Hobbyking to make sense. It tells me I can add xx grams more within the shipping price limit I'm aiming for.

I add enough batteries to come reasonably close to the total weight for that shipping price.

It recalculates and bumps to the next shipping rate higher.

I take some batteries out, then some more, then some more.

It looks right.

I go to check out and the shipping rate has gone up again.

The batteries are OK. Their billing and shipping arithmetic is just impenetrable for me.

I've tried emailing them to ask -- just tell me, to my zip code in CAlifornia, what's the most batteries I can get for each shipping amount step?

They can't figure it out either!

I think they add couple of grams to each battery in order to make total weight of batteries and packaging, thus you get slightly less batteries per weight than expected.

I was able to get 5 AAA batteries for $2.99 shipping (no tracking). I was able to get 8 AA batteries for $6.99 shipping (with tracking). I just keep adding until the shipping goes up a level. Shipping the 8 AA's was expensive but they were shipped in an actual box, not just a padded envelope (though I don't see the point).

Duracell's are overrated :)

You can get 24-pack of Tenergy alkalines ( http://www.batteriesinaflash.com/alkaline-batteries/aa-batteries/tenergy-24pk-aa-bulk-alkaline-1-5v-mn1500-e91-lr6-4106-battery ) for just $4.95 (but shipping would kill the deal), but if you take 13 boxes (= 312 batteries), it's $58.5 for batteries + $49.95 for shipping resulting in $0.19 (0.14 EUR) per battery :P

If I cant recharge it, its useless for me ;)!

To you - maybe, but not to a lot of people. For example, Energizer Ultimate Lithium’s are very, very amazing for emergency flashlights. They have 2x energy (Wh) of Eneloops, weight next to nothing, and have 12+ year shelf life.

Yeah, I see the point, especially for Li primaries, but Im all for reusable batteries, it just doesnt make sense to buy something and use it "once" and then throw it out, its good if people recycle, but many dont, so some add to the polution as well.

So yeah, batteries are good, mmkay, but dont forget to recycle !

You can actually put 2 buddy deals, one for AA, one for AAA and actually put 3 of each in your cart.

Just add a single AA and a single AAA, then change amount to 3 (for both) in your cart and press update.

But 3 of each is still too little. I need 8 AAAs. :-/
