serilillyness

I went over there (the other place) yesterday when BLF went down. I have to admit it is a very informative (so is BLF) place with some great folks. Well I opened a thread of interest and a couple of people posted some "light heart-ed silliness". Nothing lewd or offensive. Matter of fact some got a good laugh. The posts were instantly DELETED! I am very serious when called for. People that know me say I am 60 going on 12 as I can be very SILLY! Yes, I love Monty Python. . I LIKE TO MAKE PEOPLE LAUGH. Now, I do not bring this up to start an attack on the "other place" but to merely point out that BLF has very nice mix of "seriousness" and "silliness"(serilillyness?). These are the only two forums i am a member of. Now, on with the serilillyness! Did i just coin a new word? If so, be careful not to use it lest you be guilty of "copyright infringement". I shall check with my attorney. Now this is just SILLY...........BUT SERIOUS.

Keith (who comes from a long line of silly people)

I wouldn't last a minute.

So, you attempted to give Grunta a humor injection ?

I wouldn't be able to keep my lunch down. Brave guy.

How many bags does that take, anyway?

Monty Python seriously rules!

24 liters, and a 4-gauge needle.

It may be a good thing,

Here for example..

Legitimate thread > 1 spammer posts > 50 people post "paisley" related sentences and images > no one answers the question or discusses the topic

or

Legitimate question > 50 people post sarcastically > ends up with no information related to the question asked

Don't get me wrong, I like a good laugh but it has got to the point where some people just post useless things that don't make any sense and that is all they do all day every day.

Although I'm not a member of the "other forum" I do think they are too strict, and here maybe a little too relaxed?

Life’s always one way or the other isn’t it. It’s a matter of extremes most of the time.

It doesn't surprise me anymore when I hear stuff about the place that shall not be named. All their crap does is push people away and those people usually end up here which is good for BLF.

That's why BLF ROCKS!!!

I think the extra silliness & humor here is in compensation for the seriousness there. We may go overboard but dangit, it just feels good to be able to. I've never seen a question go unanswered here but sometimes it does take a few posts to get to it.

I meant for over her head. :p

I just realize that my wife put a picture of our cat up as my avatar. WTF. How am I going to get that off of there? Eyyiya!

As for the irreverent humor, ezarc, I can only speak for myself; that feeling of "guys hanging out being guys" is what eventually led (that's funny b/c it is LED) me to join here. As much as anybody, I probably go a little too far some times. But I try to only do it when it is a clear "paisley" situation or, at least, it's well after the post is established and the OP has been satisfied with regard to real flashlight knowledge.

I'll add too that if I ever take it too far, feel free to call me out on it. My feelings won't be hurt. If I've gotten out of control, I'll try to scale it back. That said, coming here to visit my invisible friends is what I do to relax and have fun. And, besides, this thread is premised on "silliness" so if we can't joke around with each other here, then where?

Me either. As a matter of fact, Cruella wouldn't even let me in the front door. LOL

Laughter worketh like a medicine, but a broken spirit drieth the bone"s. Many of the folks there seem (and in the world in general) "SAD". I LOVE flashlights but my main hobby is "laughing"! There has to be a balance. I think many members here would be a blast hangin out with.

Keith

Agreed! I can think of at least a half/dozen members here that I’d love to be neighbors with (yourself included). All of us on the coolest, most fun culdesac anyone ever saw!

And well lit too!

I think threadcrapping and highjacking are what this place has always been about . If you need serious I think you're in the wrong neighborhood .Some people have no sense of humor and take themselves much too seriously .I feel sorry for them but not enough to change,or expect to change the forum. Interesting part of BLF is even though there is so much diversity in cultures the one thing we can agree on is everyone likes a good laugh .

where is this culdesac? I will pack my lights and my dog and head out. JohnnyMac I count it an honor to be counted among this eclectic (silly?) group although we may blind one another HARHAR. BTW, the only rule there would be is one would have to HAVE "silly flashlights". I don"t know if I would bring the wife? Yea, they can come in "HANDY"! tHEY COULD STAY IN THE GUEST HOUSE.

Keith

Well said!
