SHOULD I BUY THE XTAR S1?

Really like the looks of the XTAR S1, but i am looking for a good thrower for around $250
Any other sugestions for a far throwing, $250 ish, single, or multiple emitter. Thanks.

Nevermind. I see your in the UK.

Ok I sent you a pm.

I would recommend the Fenix TK70 or Olight SR90 or even the Olight SR91.

hey woody I'm liking the xtar too, best to get it from hk equipment, they take 50 usd off for BLF discount.A new entry into the throw category really messed me up now,the THRUNITE tn31,single xml u2 pushin 1147 lumens(cough, cough yea right) and throw up to 700 meters.I probably made things worse for you,but figured seeing your budget THRUNITE is worth the money.I think the claims the make on the new stuff is yet to be seen. DARC

Just curious: why would you recommend those over the S1? I'm considering getting an S1 too so if I'm missing something, I'd like to know.

get the S1.. or alternatively you may also consider RRT-3

I have a final version of S1. It's very nice multi emitters light. As mentioned by XTAR here in this forum, it's brighter and well regulated than a test version. Smile

Also you can use flat-top 18650 cell as well. Hope you enjoy the following runtime graph.

Beamshot (far more than 130m)

Well he said he wanted a good thrower. The 2 lights I mentioned will out throw the S1. But I talk to him in a pm. And the Xtar S1 may just be what he wants.

The THRUNITE TN31 (the thrower one) has turned my head, any more info on this ? whats the price likely to be?. Thanks for all your input. :-)

THRUNITE’S facebook page gives a little more, discussion at other forums points to about $200-$250 usd,but nothing concrete from them.It seems like a 3x 18650 to me and for sure has 6 levels with control ring adjustment going from .5 lumens to 1147! The xtar is really cool too,now that I see more beamshots, but I prefer the THRUNITE u.i.

Hi! Just curious, test version had 2800 lumens, final 2300-2350. How did they made that torch brighter with 500 lumens less?

I am agree with you. those 2 lights that you mentioned are easily out throw the S1.

-his eyes want a S1, but his mind considering other available option-. I think he need to be specific on the LED types or batteries and etc.

i would prefer to get a Sunwayman V60C and RRT-3 rather than TN30 and 31.

Hey candle lamp, that's good news about the better regulation. Would you happen to have graphs for any lower-output modes?

Also, could you please explain, or show us in a photo, how the S1 works with flat-top cells now? Thanks.

...and beam shape too. After all, a $10 laser out-throws the S1. :) I can't comment on the Olight models mentioned above, but from beamshots I've seen, both the TK70 and S1 have fairly wide beams; not nearly as wide as floody lights like the TM11, Dry, or Skyray King though.

Hi again…why would you go for the V60C and the RRT-3, over the TN30 TN31.

V60C and RRT-3 have better design than tn30,31. They feel solid when you hold them.

Don't think to much. the more you do a research, the more confuse you'll get. because different models have different pros and cons.

There are many brands with various models available. hence it is impossible if you want to find a PERFECT flashight as different brands with different models have their own features.

It's like when you want to purchase a new car. some might go for BMW, some might go for Mercedes Benz.

Buy what you like.

Good advice my friend, really like the chunky look of the XTAR S1, and a lot of people seem to like it, with good reviews.
Think i will place an order with HKE, the y have a $50 discount for blf members
