Do any of you prefer cool white, compared to neutral?

I myself actually prefer cool white, it just looks cool! I don't really like the look of a neutral, it just seems too colorful to me...

Anybody else agree?

Cool white is good!

I prefer neutral, for that exact reason, color of the actual real world object is much more realistic.

Just few minutes ago my gf and I were going for a walk, and a dark shade in a shop window was impossible to recognize with a cool white LED light. When I pulled out a flashlight with a bit more neutral LED it became obvious that it was dark green.

Given a choice I'd take neutral almost anytime. Cool white does blind eyes more, if you need to blind someone, so it too has it's advantages.

I prefer neutral too, while a blue tint appears brighter you can actually see less.

+1

No.

If the light is floody, then definitely neutral. If I am going for throw, then cool white is better because it is typically brighter and will throw further.

Exactly. I don't mind cool white but will take a neutral over it any day.

If I want to impress people with how bright my torch is, cool white for sure.

If I want to actually use the torch in the dark to see something, definitely neutral white.

I prefer cool white for long throw or if I'm going to use a diffuser and need the higher output. Neutral is always best if you need to see detail and color. The output of cw is usually always higher.

Cool white is always good.

My eyes will adjust to color tint shifts so as long as its not green or angry blue-purple I am fine with the pale whites.

The added lumen output though of the pale tints is the main advantage for me.

I bought the NW version of the Skyray King and now....I kinda regret it. Sure its more of a true white color which would be great for something like a light fixture, but I like the coolness of the light emitted from my Fenix TK35. I think from now on I'm gonna stick with a cool white color if available.

I didn't think much about tint until I got these NW XM-Ls from IO. I don't hate cool white, I actually like some of them but color rendition with NW is so unbelievably superior - can't believe it took me this long to figure it out. The difference is subtle so, a person might not be immediately blown away.

I myself love cool white.

But I also like a color that isn't so white like on my M3X.

I like Neautral tints so long as it really is Neautral not warm. I'm also happy to use cooler whites so long as there not too cool and look blue.

I have a so called Neautral tinted XML that is quite pea green when compared to other lights, but isn't noticeablly green unless you have another light for reference.

Everyone's eyes are different. There's no good answer except what works for you personally.

ha ha :) , +1 here

our evolution has made our eyes to best see in daylight ,which is somewhere around 6000K in colour temperature , and to fire light , which is ~ 2000K , thus a neutral white led with ~4000K is a perfect balance between the two

I'd say if you're looking at beamshot on the internet on someone elses wall than you don't have any real clue and don't have a valid opinion .. Try them all and make up your own mind .truth is side by side they all look horrible buy in real life it's a 100% different story .

I like neutrals It like neutrals above the line heading towards yellow about 4500K and a 4c 4b or 5b

the subtlties are enormous .. do you like red better than green or pink vs blue Tan or yellow ,orange or amber ?

Shots on a white wall are only confusing ..you have to see and experiance them

Tint doesn't matter any more, high CRI has become most important to me. If Cree would do some high power CW 90-95 CRI with high binning, I would buy those exclusively. Brightness, tint and color rendition of the sun at high noon (which is quiet cold) would be optimal.
