Decent 18650s That Are Not Too Fat For UF-T50?

Are there any good 18650s that are consistently less fat than the norm? Do I need to go unprotected and if so, are there any that are high powered, thin and safe? I've always used protected batteries so am totally in the dark about unprotecteds.

Recently bought a few more UltraFire UF-T50s and was unpleasantly surprised that Himax 2600s are too fat although they fit in my first UF-T50. Partially skinned two protected Ultrafire 3000s in one and know that's not safe so...

From the battery comparison threads, Trustfire Flame 2400s and Tenergy 2600s seem to be thinner than most but some people have had problems with those being too fat in other lights. Plus I know from experience that fatness varies, even with the same brand and type, so I'm hoping to avoid a lot of trial and error.

Thanks!

I am using a Tenergy 2600 in mine, fits fine.

Unfortunately there's no uniformity in UF-T50s and the differences between mine are large. So what may work in one may or may not work in another.

Then why bother asking the question? If there’s so much variance then obviously no answer will be the correct answer.

Maybe you should "bother" to read the OP before you reply with unhelpful and combative responses.

All of my cells (Even the protected 3100s) work in the only T50 I have. But it was an early(ish) one. the protected 3100s are a tight fit, but work. And no damage to the coverings.

I have 10 metres of appropriate lime green heatshrink tubing for the ones that don't fit.

My first one might be an early one too because it can also hold protected 3100s. But the new ones are nowhere close. I did peel the outer cover off one of the Ultrafires I damaged and it fit a lot better and looked like an unprotected battery which is why I was asking about them.

That is a pain. Ripped covers are something I prefer to avoid.

Consistency out of China is something we need to hope for.

and surprising, i was hoping the T50 was of better quality, and at least there would not be size differences. (aside to luvlites, are there brightness/other differences as well?).

that said, the tenergy, both protected and unprotected seem to fit in everything, and so far i am very pleased with both.

To clarify, the problem is due to differences in the alignment of the battery tubes with the flashlight heads they screw into. With my "smallest" T50, any battery will slide most of the way down but the last 3/16" is where they get stuck. I tried switching around tubes and heads but it didn't help. On the contrary, they're fixed in place with some kind of adhesive so after I finally did "break" the seals, some lights would flicker and not shine at max brightness after I put the heads back on. Was able to fix this by cleaning the gunk off the threads with some q-tips dipped in rubbing alcohol and toothpicks. Other than that, they all seem to be about the same in terms of beams and performance, both when shined on a wall and measured in my light box. One beam did have a barely perceptible difference in color but that's all I've noticed so far.

Ordered some protected Tenergys and if they don't fit I'll try unprotected or grind down the worst aligned tube.
