What does C8 or C10 or those other flashlight format acronyms mean?

I keep seeing posts relating to "C8" - and have no idea what they are talking about...

It's a size. Basically it's one step up in size from a P60 type of light. P60 is a generic version of a Surefire 6P.

C8

I also asked about the C8 and the C10 but never got an answer...

A C10 has a slightly larger head, usually deeper reflector. Not as common as a C8 and somewhat inconsitent. Good view here:

So a C10 gives more throw, a C8 more flood?

C8 is pretty throwy too, just not as much as a C10. The C8 definitely throws better than a P60 drop-in.

I could of told you the difference between a c8 and a c10 if I had received the c10 I ordered from DX 2 months ago!

brted is right though, the C10 is supposed to have better throw.

I wrote earlier that most likely the C10 gives more throw because of the deeper reflector... however since both reflectors have the same diameter, do they give the same flood?

I hope someone will make a review/comparison of the beamshots from C8 & C10 for all of us to see the difference...

Thanks everyone. This really helped.
