It may be way overrated on the lumens. But I tell you what it's one of the nicest headlamps I know of on the market that will light up whatever you want out to 100yds or so and it has a nice tight hotspot with more spill than the other ones I have been buying. It will light up my whole backyard mostly and it will shine up a very tall tree with authority. Would even make a decent coon light. I recommend it for $25 shipped.
Brad, whilst wearing the headlamp do you notice the business end with your peripheral vision? You know...sorta like the brim of a baseball cap? Also, what's the tilt range?
Just a little if any at all. It just depends on how you position the light on your forehad for some will wear it lower than others and it also depends on how much you tilt the light. The light can be tilted straight down to the ground if you like. But that will produce a blinding effect. It has a 5 step clicker positioner for downward tilt. Then after the 5th step your looking at about the head running parallel to your forehead.
Well everytime I do take pictures there is always the one person that tells me that my pictures are deceiving or really aren't that bright in person. So why even bother.
Now this is the same exact shot from the other cheaper Q5 headlamp that is on its tightest foucus setting. You can see how much more useful the beam is from the XM-L light above which has no focus settings.
Beamshots are always deceiving, but if you shoot all with the same setting, its good for comparison. And, what mattered to me in this case, is the beam profile, and thats very clear to see. Looks very good for a headlamp.
I still dont have a really floody XML light..^^
Are the cells in series or parallel? Current draw?
That seems to be a real bargain at $25. I looked at this light and also looked at the Magicshine clones ( like from DX). I ended up getting the Spark ST6-500CW from Jason at SBFLASHLIGHTS because it provided a balance of benefits that I could not find with other lights.
It's self contained ( no external batt pack)
Uses 18650's with an XML-T6, has a flood diffuser that really works, light weight and I can get a few hours of run time out of it. It also will not build so much heat as to burn my forehead. $100
Wow! Thanks for the link to the second one you're getting! That looks perfect for me. Love the 4AA power and that looks like it should be a really floody light.
So this one you just got, it's really floody? I'm hoping the second one to be even more floody.
That's cool, I have taken stuff apart to take pictures to post and broken stuff before I wouldn't want that to happen. I just thought you might have had it apart already. I totally understand.
E1320, Don't forget _the_'s quick take on the same light. Now I'm wondering between that second one linked in post #1, or the one Int'l Outdoor sells. Why couldn't one of them be a Hi-Med-Low! Leaning towards the Ebay one. Hope it's output levels are good (not hard driven and not too low).
So ILF, I guess with what you said above, that low is still a decent level of output useable outdoors (that's how I read it). Any guess on Lumens?
