had anyone got experience with a led looking like that?
it is looking partially covered with some resin and partially cracked
it came with new romisen flashlight ordered from an online store.
their support, claims that they fail to see way I’m not satisfied with that purchase.
maybe they think that I’m just too picky.
anyhow, dos anyone willing to share his two cents about that strange defective led?

No, that is definitely a faulty LED - the goo is almost certainly the silicone oil that should be inside the dome. Once that leaks XR-E LEDs don't live long. I've only lost the dome from one LED ever, it isn't something that can happen by accident once the light is assembled but it is easy to damage the dome when it is being handled. The metal ring round XR-E LEDs is to hold the dome in place. The LED will fail soon as the dome is about to fall off and XR-E dies don't enjoy the company of oxygen.

Unless you dismantled it and were very careless with it, this has to be a manufacturing fault. Like I said, this has only once happened to me and I own a lot of lights, most of which have Cree XR-E LEDs in them.

It shouldn't look like that. Sometimes there is some dirt on the dome that can be wiped off, but that just looks like damage. And once the dome is damaged, there isn't anything you can do to make it better.

Basically if Don with so many lights has experienced led like that only once,
I’m obviously not so lucky with flashlights
what a shame, I have to use them every night.
So, that cracks looking signs are places where silicone is missing inside the dome,
The “resin like smear” is the silicone that migrated outside (remarkably well)
and the flashlight itself should be recycled.
thanks for the clarification, and also for Integrating the led image in the second post.
if the vendor was just apologizing, it could have been resolved nicely.
but since he completely decline that there is anything wrong with that flashlight.
I had, By the name of honest trade to claim refund trough PayPal.
What that means is that most probably,
I’ll have to send that flashlight back, in order to get a refund.
in other words, I’m going to be only slightly conned by that vendor(shipping fee),
And that vendor most probably will sell that flashlight to someone else.
later on I’ll fill in my shopping experience with that vendor,
so that at least other forum members could take it into consideration
wile choosing a place to buy.
