Nichia NV4WB35AM

Nichia website shows a new quad die LED with CSP-like size.

  • 3.65x3.65 package, custom soldering footprint
  • 9.73 mm² die
  • Cold start gives 2000 lm at max allowed current. Then you can start overdriving. :smiling_imp:
  • at the rated current (1.4A) output matches XHP50.2
  • 6V only
  • 3000-5000K
  • CRI70-80 (EDIT: they later added 9080 as well)
  • flat :+1:
  • no DTP thermal pad
  • thermal resistance beats any 3535 LED but is slightly worse than XHP50.2
  • max continuous power is quite low, lower than XHP35

Probably low overdriving capability means it’s not a thrower LED. But great efficiency, probably little angular tint shift, probably good tint…that would make it a great choice for many lights that are between throwers and flooders. And for flooders as well.
Though 6V causes troubles. And many flooder lovers would prefer CRI90+…

Myself I’d love to have a zoomie with it.

Has anybody had a chance to try out this LED?

So far I am unable to find a source of these LEDs…

Only place I can find them for sale is LedRise
https://www.ledrise.eu/leduri-individuale/nichia-leds/nichia-x19-series-high-power-leds.html?led_size=3—65x3—65—mm

Seem to have a good selection of CCT’s as well.

Thanks for the heads up. The footprint is the same as 119 series.
Virence had top notch MCPCBs for it but they seem no longer available. I see ledrise has some other 119 LEDs on alu PCBs so this is a possible though inferior source.

The price is a bit of “ouch”…

Best option I found so far. Much better price. Haven’t checked shipping yet…

Not sure why the original link didn’t work. Should be fixed now.

Yep, works.

They’re not really good at putting the correct images with their products…
But they can be seen among their LEDs on MCPCB collection.

There’s also this option, if you want a more normal star shaped MCPCB.

Shipping to Canada starts at 19 Euros for 1 LED! Ridiculous…

I just rediscovered this emitter looking at Nichia’s site, and it seems like a very obvious XHP35 replacement. Has anybody managed to obtain one yet?

Clemence just listed it on his New website , along with new MCPCB for it, probably those two

sm4050e R9080 for me please.

by the way: the datasheet lists R9080 variants for all color ranks (2700K - 6500K)

Dammit, I just made an order and need another.

Yeah… bad timing, I wonder if he already has some and is just waiting for economy shipping to resume to start sales.

Please also be aware of the recent deadly earthquakes in Indonesia along with some volcanic activity may impact his business and the shipping logistics. I did just receive my package from him I placed on dec30, BTW.

Hope Clemence’s and his family are okay.

Nichia website now lists NV4WB35AM Crxx
http://www.nichia.co.jp/en/product/led_product_data.html?type='NV4WB35AM(Crxx)'

7500K and unrated CRI for few extra lumens.

I’m really anticipating this emitter. Hopefully clemence worked his magic and got some below BBL tints.

This is a interesting mid-size led, looking like bigger E21A. It look like the new loneoceans lume x1 driver is perfect driver for this led, hoping that we can see some new flashlight using this led and I will like to see reviews.
