MEASUREMENTS
I repeat measurements multiple times and make mistakes, please expect multiple edits in this post to update data as needed.
Lumen numbers posted are the highest value that I got, meaning if I there is a range, I tend to post highest value unless it looks ridiculous strange. Same thing with Duv, “best” values from a range is posted.
Nightwatch Avaritia A54U Version 2 with four 4000k N5-165HPE+
USB-C charging working fine. Review starts here.
CCT : 4000k exact (measured at Turbo level)
CRI : 90 (phew - barely making the 90 cut)
Duv : 0.0048 (Tint snobs among us be quiet & don’t be a party pooper :-).)
Level 1 = 130 lm, 3720k, Duv 0.0020
Level 2 = 530 lm, 3740k, Duv 0.0020
Level 3 = 1150 lm, 3764k, Duv 0.0030
Level 4 = 3290 lm, 3961k, Duv 0.0050
Turbo = 14780 lm, 4000k, Duv 0.0050
Output - Highest of multiple runs with full battery and cool light.
EVE 40PL: 14780
AM04 (JP40 Clone): 13740
Nightwatch Battery 45XP “80A”: 12300
Molicel P45B: 12350
Wurkkos 5000 mAh: ~8000-9000
Brightness levels 1-4: 130-530-1150-3290, moonlight=20
Throw Turbo @ 0 and 30 sec
EVE PL40: 76 Kcd @ 0 sec, 5 Kcd @ 30 sec (dramatic thermal step-down at around 20 sec causes extremely lower 30 sec value)
Wurkkos: 0 sec 49, Kcd 30 sec 14 Kcd
Throw at Turbo-1 level More useful for this light because of dramatic step-down at Turbo.
EVE 40PL w/ Zircon: 14.1 Kcd @ 0 sec, 13.5 Kcd @ 30 sec
EVE 40PL No Zircon: 17. 4 Kcd @ 0 sec, 16.5 Kcd @ 30 sec
PWM Level 1-3 and Turbo have no PWM, level 4 PWM at first then step down to lower level without PWM.
Thermal regulation excellent: Tmax ~41C, Tsustained 40, Sustained output ~900 lm.
Nightwatch Avaritia A54U Ultra Version 1 with four 6500k N5-165HPE+
Some first-generation lights have malfunction onboard USB-C charger-DO NOT USE. It does NOT stop charging at 4.2 v and continues to charge and destroys battery.
Output
AM04 (JP40 Clone): 15000 lm
Nightwatch Battery 45XP “80A”: 14400
Molicel P45B: 14060
Wurkkos 5000 mAh: ~8000-9000
Brightness levels 1-4: 120-530-1180-2940, no moonlight
Turbo Throw at 0 and 30 sec: Significant thermal step-down causes significant change among batteries and make measurement difficult.
EVE PL40 Battery: 70 Kcd @ 0 sec, 16 Kcd @ 30 sec
Molicel PB45: 38 Kcd 388m @ 30 sec
Wurkkos Generic Battery: 49 Kcd 443m (lower output but less thermal stepdown hence longer throw)
Throw at level T-1 (more realistic, less dramatic step-down):
18.2 Kcd @ 0 sec, 17.5 Kcd at 30 sec
Duv 0.0000 @ Turbo level
CCT 5900k
Ra=70
Thermal regulation with JP40: Tmax 39°C at 60 sec, T equilibrium 39°C, output at equilibrium approx. 1000 lm.
Thermall regulation with Wurkkos: Tmax 46.5° at 90 sec, T equilibrium 41°C, Output at equilibrium approx. 1000 lm.
PWM: Level 1-3 and Turbo no PWM, level 4 PWM at first then steps down to lower level without PWM.
