$100 Budget MONSTER-Lights w/ 15000+ lumens: Wurkkos TS32-Nichia 519a. Comparison with Chinese-LED Heavyweights: Haikelite, Jin Heng JKK76, multiple Nightwatches. (Summary & measurements on P. 1) LATEST: RIDICULOUS 20,000+ lumen pocketable NW NS14R v2.

So true. It is mostly an impressive toy rather than a practical light in the higher output ranges. It does still provide a bunch of light and decent run times on low modes. Especially with the 26800 cells.

Pls remind me again, are you the same as the reviewer Nick of 1lumen: Nightwatch NS14R review | 50,000 lumen flashlight with 2 batteries | 1Lumen.com If so thanks for the great reviews. I enjoy reading about these budget unicorns.

NS14r with the SSQ55.2 LED is unfortunately out of stock. But I’m eyeing the short version NS14r v2. I already have Chaos but prefer the side switch and short form of this light. Nightwatch NS14R V2 14xSFQ55.4 30000lm 21700 Flood Flashlight – Nealsgadgets

I like these small monster lights very much - low output for most of my walk then an occasional short OMG so-much-fun light blast. :innocent: Doubt it would reach the claimed 30000 lm, but the output still should be stupendous for such a small light.

Looks cool.

Yah that’s me. These are fun lights. Lower modes are much more useful, but I’d grab a Speras P10R or T50, Streamlight HL6 or a Wurkkos TS23 or Convoy M21H over the NS14R. Unless you need 30K Lumens there’s better options.

NS14R (like the NS59V1, V2, NS14) was previously only available through TaoBao direct from Nightwatch (like the A15). Neal got some to sell, but they’re sold out. If you know someone who can buy from Taobao, you might be in luck. Otherwise maybe ask Neal if he can backorder one.

Yes that’s what I need BUDGET 30k lumens. :slightly_smiling_face: I use turbo-1 or turbo-2 level for most of the walk, and the turbo blast strictly for occasional eye-opening fun. BTW keep up the good work. I find your reviews excellent and thorough, and the conclusion well thought-out and helpful.

I am not technical and have a question in case you could help answer. The N14R v2 HERE is a short light with 1 battery, versus N14R that has 2 batteries. This means voltage in v2 (the short light) is half of the long light right? Since P=VI, current then has to double for same amount of power?

Supplying enough current for N14R is already taxed to its limit with 2 batteries, how could such high current be possible with only 1 battery in the N14R V2? The 30000 lm claimed is quite optimistic here, no?

Thanks! We opted not to review the v2. The NS14r is already at the limit with 2S so a single cell is not ideal. 30k lumens is a ridiculous exaggerated figure. Its more like maybe 20k. The power consumption is the same whether you’re 1S or 2S, but you can produce more with more batteries since they share the load. Plus, higher input voltage results in lower current (Ohm’s law) loading.

You’re right. I found a good review by Piercing The Darkness. He measured 17000 lm @ turbo start, much lower than claimed as expected. Still remarkable and I believe to be the highest output for any single 21700 lights. I really like it that Nightwatch has switched to side switch, but too bad still no on-board charging. This light is not practical but for my use the few seconds of glory :innocent: should be extremely fun.

Neal told me the battery included is indeed the rare as hen’s teeth Lishen LR2170LH (review here). In my amateur-level testing using turbo lumen output as criteria, it beats my Molicel P45B consistently in the lights that I have. I will get one to bring my collection to 3 for testing with my other soda-can lights but likely will use a generic 5000 mAh so the light could last my 1 hour walk lol.

I ordered a second Valkyrie from Nealsgadgets and it went from China to LA, REMARKABLY, in 4 days. Beautiful and perfectly packaged. Dealing with Neal is like a box of chocolate. This time I got Lindt Lindor - the best. :innocent:

Next will be NS14R V2 HERE. Just a matter of how much I could resist temptation for a toy I don’t need .

Nightwatch lights are great.

The Valkyrie is still the brightest single led, single cell flashlight out there currently. I tested the Lumintop GT4695 (similar led to the NI03S) and it wasn’t as bright (driver limitation i think).

In case you’re wondering, the 30T performs nearly identically (maybe better) than the P45B in the first 15 minutes. It’s only beaten in longer runs. However, those 2170 40XP batteries are something else and probably the best high output 21700s out there.

Nightwatch Valkyrie still the champ! :muscle: :innocent: That Lumintop GT4695 seems to be quite a HEAVY bad boy - close to 1 kg weight with battery. But wow - amazing capacity with that huge battery.

I googled “2170 40XP” but didn’t find anything. Is there a typo? Who makes this battery and who sells it?

I have no idea. That’s copied off the wrapper. Maybe Lishen?

Don’t know if you folks remember this:

But as the thread goes on people (including me) post about several variations that came with different colored wraps and markings. I ended up with 5 of them and they are of three different types… All ordered as the same item from Neal.

1 Thank

It actually was fun for me trying to decide what on earth this mystery Nealsgadgets Lishen battery is. All 3 of mine are identical: pink with the code 03BCEA.

Neal called this battery Lishen “LR2170LH” and I am now fairly sure it’s the battery that was reviewed by Mooch here Bench Test Results: Lishen LR2170LH (unconfirmed) - 60A 3000mAh 21700

I think we/I would not have wasted time with this battery except for the fact they consistently beat all others including Molicel P43B and Samsung 30T in my Turbo-output-at-turn-on shoot out.

Have you Firefly’d yet?

Thank you for bringing this to my attention. This forum is such trouble for the pocket book lol. These are beautiful lights. I crave more brightness (even if it means fast subsequent stepdowns) in my Convoy and Hank Light with Nichia 219b and the E07x FFL351a with 7 LED’s and rosy tint reviewed by my favorite reviewer @Sirstinky HERE is awfully attractive.

Great to have some LED other than Nichia for tint snobs to do shoot-outs with. Too bad no red finish available, just the MAO white? And just FFL, no more 519a?

Today I actually just retired after 34 year career, maybe I’ll get a gift for myself. Second retirement gift after the Dodgers’ championship. :innocent: :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

3 Thanks

Congratulations on your retirement!

I have read most of your posts and based on those I would classify Fireflylites as a serious threat to your pocket book, and a pleasure to your retinas.

The E07x is currently my favourite light. Also consider the X4Q.

Thank you. I had a chat with Firefly asking if the E07x in red color that’s out of stock will be available again.

Someone from Firefly entered the chat then mentioned that a new light E04 will be available this month, in time for Xmas gift :innocent:, that has Quad 5050 (FFL505A?), only 4 LED’s but better output, and better throw @ 800m (less floody than E07). No MAO, but will have blue, red, green, black. He didn’t make me sign NDA or anything lol so I guess above info has already been out somewhere?

There is some discussion of tint lottery with the latest batch of FFL341A on reddit HERE, so I think I will wait for E04 in Christmas Red finish. BTW I recently had first-hand similar experience with GT-FC40 4500k. First batch was a 219b imitator. Second batch green with positive Duv.

3 Thanks

That is news to me - Make sure to post this on the Fireflies reddit!
Incredible, they have been releasing one amazing light after the other.

Regarding FFL351A: There is no significant tint lottery, thankfully. BUT there are three different batches.

  • First “3700K” was quite rosy,
  • Second “3750K” was neutral
  • Third “4000K” was very rosy

The OP in the linked post may have not carefully read the description before ordering, or the description may not have been clear at the time.
FFL currently offers the second and third batch as separate options.

Only guessing here based on some correspondence I had with Jack…

At one point I took an E07X, and put a 5050 MCPCB from a D4SV2 with Ledil Angie optics inside it. I used 4x Yinding 6500k 95 CRI (have also done SFT40s which work great too) and that thing is nicely throwy and bright with those LEDs (not unlike 4x SFT25R in a D4S), competitive with the X1L while being a more compact host. I showed Jack this mod, and he seemed to like the idea…

So there is the possibility that this E04 is going to be something like that, a D4Sv2-like version of the E07X.

But again, this was based on a long ago correspondence where Jack essentially looked at it and said “Nice mod!”. So maybe I am reading too much into the tea leaves.
