10440 (AAA-sized Li-Ion) - what charge current to charge them at and do capacity test?

Just curious since I just got a couple of 10440s recently (wasn't able to find a local source for them until very recently, as foreign battery shops do not ship to my country unless it's pre-included with a flashlight).

I was wondering, what current should I preferably charge them with (using SkyRC MC3000)?

For standard charging (longer battery life), and for "quick-charging" (still safe but may be a bit not so good for the battery).

I believe these are rated at around 300mAh.

Also, when doing capacity test (also on the MC3000), what discharge current to set it to? (I'm assuming 0.2C so that's 0.06A discharge current? Or should I just use 0.10A or a bit higher discharge current when checking the capacity of the 10440?)

200mA sounds about right, since they have about 300mAh of true capacity.

I would go for 100mA charge, and 150mA discharge.

150mA discharge might seem a bit high, but you’ll be getting realistic capacity from it under load at that rate.

Looking at some of the 10440 tests that HKJ did, there seems to be very little difference in measured capacity, regardless if you discharge them at 0.1A, 0.2A or even 0.5A. Only above that you see a notable capacity drop.

As for charge current, I’d use 0.5C.

I have several 10440 unprotected button top cells that I’ve had for over a decade. I’ve always charged them at 0.25A and they’re all still going strong.
